What Makes a Disney Proposal

When it comes to making a Disney proposal, it can be any number of things that makes it “Disney”.  As we all know, Walt’s company has made hundreds of movies.  There are the standard big time princess movies like Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, Snow White, etc.  There are also the more current ones that people love.  These include Frozen, Tangled, Moana, etc.

You don’t necessarily have to go all-out and decorate your proposal completely to make it Disney theme.  You can simply incorporate a central element or focal point and add some more personal touches.  For example, if your partner loves Beauty & the Beast, you can have an enchanted rose as the central elements.  You can then surround the rose with other decor items such as her favorite flowers, framed photos, or love notes. Use your imagine but watch the movie and look for symbolic elements that can be used.

Additionally, you can also simply go to Disneyland, Disney World, or other theme park and do your proposal there.  You’ll be spending the day at the place that your partner loves so you wouldn’t necessarily need much more after that.

How to Plan a Disney Proposal

If you’re going to a theme park then half of your job is done.  That is partly because you’ll be at the park already but also because these parks are VERY strict as to what’s allowed.   You really won’t be able to clear out a space to put down decorations because they’re simply not allowed.  This doesn’t mean that your proposal shouldn’t be well thought-out though.

If you want to propose at an iconic spot then consider doing it as soon as the park opens so that there are fewer people around that will occupy the space.  Places like Cinderella’s castle or the Mickey gardens are always popular spots.

If you are proposing elsewhere in the parks, consider doing something else special like having a singer there to serenade you two (which has the benefit of not needing any setup).

If you are doing a setup elsewhere than a Disney park, you have tons of options and you should consider upping your decor game.

How Much is a Disney Proposal

We all know how expensive Disney theme parks can be so if you are doing it there, then expect to pay and arm and a leg.  Beyond that, as mentioned above since Disney does limit what decor you can bring then you don’t have to spend much more.

If you are making a Disney-themed proposal in your home town, then consider these costs.  You would need to take care of the venue, which can have a huge range of costs.  It can even be free if you’re using your own living space.  Or you can spend multiple thousands to rent out a private rooftop with a view.

When it comes to decor costs, then this is where you have more free reign.  You can spend as a little as a few hundred to bring in the Disney decor item.  Or you can spend thousands to completely cover your space with flowers, candles, and propose.

Don’t forget to consider getting vendors like musicians and actors!  How cool and memorable would it be if for your proposal you had a violinist playing the theme to Little Mermaid.  Or if you actually had an actor playing obnoxious Gaston and you fend him off.  She will LOVE IT!

Photographer for your Proposal

If you are proposing at your own location, then no need to worry about any strict rules.  You can hire a professional photographer for 1 hour for about  $300-$600.

If you are proposing at a Disney theme park on the other hand, then it gets tricky.  Disney is very strict about professional photography so you’re best bet would be to have your own camera or phone to take photos.
