Karl contacted Marriage Proposal Planners – The Heart Bandits because he knew that he wanted to make Tamika’s marriage proposal as special as she always dreamed of. Her favorite song is “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” by Alicia Keys. Karl fell in love with the idea of hiring an a cappella group to perform the song for his girlfriend while he proposed. We wanted it to be different than other a cappella proposals we have done in the past, so since her nickname is Poodie, we suggested that all the singers wear shirts that said “I love Poodie”. As you can see from the pictures, Tamika was on cloud 9 with her Washington DC surprise proposal.
Here is how it all went down: Karl and Tamika went to the Washington DC Botanic Gardens for what she thought was just a regular date. While they were in the middle of the bridge near the gorgeous orchid section, the lead singer of the a cappella group approached Karl and asked him if he would take their picture. Once Karl handed the camera back to the singer, the group began to serenade the couple with their song. About half way into the song, the group took their outer layer of clothing off to expose the “I love Poodie” shirts. The group began to hum the song giving Karl a chance to propose. Karl then told Tamika how he felt about her and revealed his own shirt that said “Poodie, Will You Marry Me?” Congrats to Tamika and Karl and thank you for hiring The Heart Bandits to create a memorable marriage proposal for you both.
