Everyone and their mama has at least one Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account these days. We can connect to an audience of friends, family and strangers by posting a status or picture in as little as 3 seconds. Just because we have the world at our fingertips and an audience even greater than we can imagine, using social media accounts to propose to your significant other leave couples feeling disconnected and less emotionally engaged (pun intended). Here are a few social media marriage proposals to avoid:

Facebook Status Change

Hacking into your partners Facebook account and changing their status to “married” and posting a “Will you marry me?” message on their wall seems like a cute idea, but the main idea of a proposal is to make it special and romantic for you and your partner. If your partner happens to miss the notification, wouldn’t it be less intimate to have someone else inform them of their engagement and not you?

Texting

A text proposal shows a lack of seriousness and thought. Marriage proposals done face to face mean so much more than receiving just another text during their day. If you think adding emojis will give you an added awww factor, you are wrong!

Snail Mail

Sending an engagement ring through the mail is never a good idea. A simple card along with the ring can be a letdown for many partners to receive. Although you may think it’s a great idea, adding a little more thought and effort into your proposal goes a long way.

If you are having a hard time coming up with a creative way to propose to your partner, The Heart Bandits are here for you! We make it our priority to guide you through the entire process from planning to execution with no stress and extravagant results that will leave your partner breathless!
