Though planning proposals is our main business, we do get hired several times a year to plan epic romantic anniversary dates. When I first spoke to Ajay about planning his anniversary, I could immediately tell just how much he loved his wife Angeli. The thing that stood out to me the most when I chatted with him was that he said he still believes in the magic that brought them together. Why did that stand out to me? Because Angeli and Ajay have been married for 13 years and together for 20. So many couples stop being romantic and stop believing in what brought them together, and the fact that he said that really warmed my heart. So much so, that I made it the basis of the anniversary date concept.
In 20 years, the couple had done a lot of traveling so first we had them go to a really nice restaurant in Washington D.C., where they had a beautiful 3 course meal paired with wines from different countries they had visited. We had a custom menu created to highlight the wine pairings and memories. Next, Ajay drove home and Angeli was shocked to find a magician in front of the house. The magician performed some tricks and then said he was going to do one last trick and transform the entire house into a magical place. He tapped on the door, Angeli walked in, and that is when she saw it!
The entire home was transformed with petals, candles, and Calla Lilies. On an easel was a gorgeous calligraphed sign that said, “I still believe in the magic that brought us together.” A violinist was inside playing romantic music for the couple to enjoy.
