Being part of a Marriage Proposal and Romantic Event Planning Company, I often get asked about what makes romance or how to add romance to an existing relationship. The answer is actually pretty simple. It’s about doing something different than the normal in the relationship. This does not mean picking up Burger King instead of McDonald’s for dinner one day. It means, doing something that SHE would enjoy or something that shows that you put thought and effort into your gesture.
Today’s Romance Tip of The Week is a simple one but it could provide a huge boost to your romantic reputation. For a date with her, try setting up a backyard picnic or dinner. This will also work very well if you just have a patio where you can set something up. This type of gesture works great for romance for a number of reasons. First (as mentioned above) is that it is different than your regular flow of customs. You don’t normally have dinner or a picnic in your backyard, so doing this would be a nice change of pace. Second, it will be in familiar surroundings. This has the advantage that your sweetheart doesn’t need to get all dressed up (though that will be talked about in another Romance Tip) and she could stay in her comfortable clothing. She won’t have to be weary of being underdressed or overdressed. Third, it will show initiative on your part and is something sweet and thoughtful.
The basics of this tip include setting up your backyard or patio with either a small table for dinner or a blanket for the picnic. Make sure to add little touches to it too. If having a dinner, add table cloths and napkins. If having a picnic, use a picnic basket. The type of food doesn’t matter so much as long as you know she’ll like it. Make sure however, to ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring some dessert and wine or champagne. Though it may not technically be a day that you’re celebrating, adding this touch will give you extra points. 🙂
