We have all seen the famous “Kiss Photo” taken in Times square after the announcement of the end of the war on Japan. The picture on the left is that actual photo by Alfred Eisenstaedt and the photo on the right is the recreated photo that is the crux of this marriage proposal. Chris, an active duty sailor in the Navy, came to us because he and his girlfriend Laura were going to be visiting New York. Laura is a nurse and always dreamed of the two of them recreating this famous photo. Chris hired The Heart Bandits to create a proposal for Laura, incorporating this dream of hers. Here is how it went down:
Chris told Laura that he hired a photographer to take the “Kiss Photo” of them. Chris, Laura, and their families arrived to meet the photographer and go over the plan. The couple was instructed to change into their respective outfits and meet the photographer out in front. As soon as Laura went into the restroom to change, Chris ran over to Starbucks in front of Military Island to change into his outfit. Laura came out in front and instead of finding Chris there, a guitarist approached her and gave flowers to her and all the girls in the family. He then asked Laura to follow him and he began to sing “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran while he lead Laura to Military Island.
Laura and the group ended up on Military Island and after the musician was done serenading her, the song “Marry You” came over the loud speakers. Suddenly, a break dancing flash mob commenced.
At the end of the routine, the dancers formed an aisle and out came Chris in his sailor uniform. He walked up to Laura and proposed!! Laura and her family were all in tears.
After the proposal, Chris took Laura in his arms, dipped her, and recreated that famous kiss right in the middle of Times Square. You can watch the whole video below. This has to be one of the most romantic proposals we have ever planned and we are so honored to have been a part of it.
