Ok, the big V-Day is only one day away. Are you ready? When I say are you ready, I really mean do you have a plan for Valentine’s Day? Even when I ask that question, I really mean to ask if you have a plan that doesn’t stink?

Whether you are proposing marriage on Valentine’s Day or are simply having a romantic date with someone you just got into a relationship with, there are several things that you need to keep in mind. These are things that may seem simple but they’re vital for making your Valentine’s Day a success and you won’t have be to be THAT guy that messed up Valentine’s.

Sweet Gesture

Even if you hate Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t mean that you partner hates it. Even if she says that she doesn’t like it, don’t believe her. You should still take it upon yourself to do a sweet gesture for her. A gesture could be simply texting her that you love her or leaving a romantic note hidden somewhere in the house. Just the fact that you did something small and cute will go a long way. The last thing that your partner wants to feel is forgotten about, especially on Valentine’s Day.

Romantic Gift

It goes without saying that Valentine’s Day gifts are everywhere this time of year. Just be careful that if you give her something, that it’s more thought-filled than just a little bear that you found at 7-Eleven on your way home last minute. Her favorite flowers are a better idea (it doesn’t have to be the standard red roses). Some of her favorite candy is good too (it doesn’t have to be the standard chocolate box). If you can find a way to do something that is relevant to her, you score major points. Say for example, she’s always wanted a piece of artwork that reminded her of her childhood, try to get that for her.

Evening Plans

This is probably more important than the gift. If you have a solid plan, then that takes you a long way. You don’t have to do the fancy dinner at a fancy restaurant, though that is still good if you’re doing that. If it’s something new where you two can get to spend time together interacting in a relaxed setting that will work great. Some examples would be a pottery class, a cooking class, or simply taking a tour of a museum that has nice paintings or views.

Dessert

Whatever you plan, always try to leave room for dessert on Valentine’s Day. Again, it doesn’t have to be fancy. You can do her favorite snack food but just add some champagne to it. Enjoy it somewhere with candles and you just had yourself the perfect Valentine’s Date. 🙂
