When setting out to plan your wedding proposal, time is an important consideration. It’s vital that you leave yourself enough room to get all of your ducks in a row before proposing, so your sweetheart can have the perfect proposal that she deserves. But how much time do you really need?
Six Months
Six months is an ample amount of time to plan your proposal. It’s far enough out that you should have no problem getting reservations with popular venues, lining up any catering, musicians or other services for the time you want, arranging any flowers or decorations, finding the ring, and organizing any friends or family that will be participating. You will also have the advantage of plenty of time to make your decisions, allowing you to really think over the small details of the proposal and get them right.
Three Months
Three months could be cutting it a little short- if you plan on using a venue in high demand like a fancy restaurant or a vacation rental. However, with 3 months notice, you will have time to choose another venue if your first choice is taken. You will have enough time to arrange everything else, including the ring and decorations, and you’ll still have enough time to make up your mind about all the little details.
One Month
Although one month is not an ideal amount of time to plan a proposal, it is possible. You probably won’t be able to get any popular or exclusive venues, and there will be challenges in arranging musicians, catering, or any other specialized services. Anyone you want to help you may have to do some last-minute juggling of their schedule. You’ll have to be decisive when it comes to planning the proposal itself, but if you approach the process with a solid plan, then you can create a good proposal. Keep in mind- one month is absolute rock-bottom when it comes to planning a proposal! Two Weeks
At the two week mark, there’s always the chance of a hail-mary save- an overbooked venue may have last minute cancellations, you closest friends and family may be coming into town for another event- but most likely, you’ll have to make do with whatever is available. It’s absolutely not advisable to wait this long to start organizing your proposal, because in all likelihood, a proposal you put together in two weeks could look like you put it together in two weeks. If you find yourself trying to cram all of the work into the last two weeks, take pity on yourself and postpone the proposal so that you can do a proper job.
