Have you ever realized that the best restaurants tend to be the hole-in-the-wall or the mom-and-pop places. It’s the places that don’t have the glitz, glamour, and most of all, the publicity, that tend to have the most appeal while also leaving the most lasting impression on you. The same is true with romantic places for dates and proposals. Sure, the places that are well known are great in themselves because once you mention it to someone, they will immediately know what you’re talking about and would be able to relate because chances are, they’ve probably been there themselves. But to truly create a sense of intrigue and romance, try going to a place that is not so well known but has a lot going for it and will leave a special mark in your heart.
Once such hidden gem in Southern California is the Korean Bell in San Pedro. It is not very well known and somewhat difficult to get to from the the major freeways, but it’s definitely worth a visit with your sweetie. The Korean Bell sits on top of a hill in the southwestern corner of Los Angeles near Palos Verdes cliffs. Due to it’s location, you get breathtaking views that are over 180 degrees wide. Looking out, if you look to the left, you can easily see Long Beach and down the Orange County coastline. Looking outward, you can see Catalina Island and miles of beautiful blue ocean. Looking to the right, you can see more gorgeous water up to the hills of the Santa Monica area. In addition to the views, it is a very quant setting for a picnic. It is an open are with grass, a play area for kids, and a replica of the original Korean Bell of Friendship. The area is by far, the BEST place to fly a kite. Take your sweetie there for an afternoon to enjoy the sites, have a picnic, fly a kite, enjoy romance, and possibly propose. Make it your own personal gem with your own story.
