Suril and Diane are both ambitious professionals, so it only makes sense that they met during their residencies at a New York hospital. After working closely together for a few months, Suril worked up the courage to ask Diane out on a date.
The couple hit it off right away, and as Suril showed Diane some photos from his travels, they had their first kiss–one they reflect on to this day!
Diane’s favorite type of gifts are ones that give her memorable experiences, which is why they love to travel the world together. They fondly remember their first trip overseas when they visited Prague, Vienna and Munich. Amidst all of their travels, one of their favorite things to do together is cooking a relaxing dinner at home.
When Suril had to move to Tennessee after a few months of dating, the couple chose to remain optimistic about their love story even though they began a long-distance relationship. Suril and Diane have been there for each other through the highs and the lows, and they have taught each other to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Being long distance has made it difficult to do traditional gestures like buying flowers, so when Suril contacted The Heart Bandits for memorable proposal ideas, he liked the concept of incorporating a flower cart into his proposal.
As Suril and Diane walked along the Brooklyn Promenade on their one-year anniversary, they came across a flower cart vendor that The Heart Bandits organized with purple tulips, white roses, and yellow sunflowers–all of Diane’s favorites!
Suril went to buy a bouquet from the flower cart vendor and Diane was in shock when the vendor turned to her and said, “Actually Diane, this whole flower cart is for you.” As the sun set against the breathtaking New York City skyline, Suril got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Unable to wipe the smile off her face, Diane said “yes!” with the golden glow of the sun reflecting off the water.
