Are you racking your brain trying to figure out what your marriage proposal should be like? Well, marriage proposals should be as unique as the couple who is getting engaged. There is no one-size-fits-all rule for what kind of proposal you should have. Below is a list of some different types of marriage proposals you can choose from. Print this list out and then make some notes regarding why you think your girlfriend would like each one. Choose the style that has the most reasons written down as your proposal idea!
Romantic Proposal
A romantic proposal is the obvious choice. With this option, you pick a gorgeous venue, include tons of personalized touches, and pour your heart out to her right before you propose. Check out the proposal we planned or Ross and Jenna on the video above. We rented out a beautiful room and had a piano delivered. Our pianist played a Justin Timberlake song as an American Idol contestant belted out the song, “Until The End of Time.” Ross walked her down a rose petal aisle and proposed in front of a custom banner and amazing red rose floral arrangements. This could be your proposal!!
Outdoor Proposal
Proposing to your girlfriend outdoors can be risky but if done properly, can be oh so amazing. Like the Big Bear proposal that we planned for Dave in the above video. At the most beautiful sunset hour, they stumbled upon a lovely proposal setup. Musicians played romantic music as Dave lead her down “memory lane.” When the time was right, he proposed in front of a stunning altar. Photographers and videographers were there to capture the big moment.
Flash Mob Proposal
For the right couple, a Flash Mob proposal could be the most perfect proposal idea. A Flash Mob is super versatile. You can have lyrical dancers perform something slow and romantic. You could do a ballroom or hip hop flash mob. Or you could do something unique like how we re-created the World War II kiss scene in the video above. Flash Mobs are great because there are so many different types of marriage proposals that you can incorporate into a Flash Mob.
Animal Proposal
Proposing using animals is a very frequent request here at The Heart Bandits. Working with animals can be unpredictable so you want to do a lot of planning. For example, in the above proposal, the actual proposal location was supposed to be at Bow Bridge. But the temperature dropped to a level that was dangerous for the pugs so we had to implement our backup plan and move it indoors. This is exactly why you want to make sure you plan an animal proposal out thoroughly.
Adventurous Proposal
Some girls aren’t into all the romance (although make sure your girl fits in this category) and would like to be proposed to doing something awesome like jumping out of a plane or repelling down a waterfall. Keep in mind, if you choose this option you still need to make it personalized and add special touches.
Rooftop Proposal
A rooftop proposal is another very popular proposal idea. In the summer, a rooftop proposal is absolutely perfect and romantic. In the winter, cuddle with each other and keep warm up there but still enjoy the most amazing views as you propose. I also love how you can create any vision on a rooftop like the Christian theme proposal we planned for Brandon in the above video. He proposed on a rooftop with a close-up view of Empire State Building.
Destination Proposal
A destination proposal can be a great marriage proposal option. You can propose in another city or even in another country like our client Shekar did in the video above. We rented out a private loft with views of the Eiffel Tower. As they walked down a monogram aisle made of rose petals, a harpist played romantic music. He proposed and then they celebrated with a famous private chef serving them dinner. Paris, Hawaii, Australia….the sky is literally the limit. There are so many different types of marriage proposals you can do all around the globe.
Luxury Proposal
If you have the budget for it, consider creating a luxury proposal for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Pull out all the stops and rent a breathtaking venue to go along with your personalized proposal idea. Check out the high-end proposal we planned for Pete and Dili above. Since Dili loves tulips, we created a rooftop garden making it appear as tulips were growing out of the ground. Pete proposed on the most stunning rooftop with panoramic views of Manhattan and Dili said yes! Hire a Proposal Planner to make sure everything goes seamlessly.
