Marvin and I went to San Jose last month to do some proposal scouting. The largest city in Northern California, San Jose is a bustling metropolis that offers something for every way of life. If you’re a resident or a tourist looking for a perfect place to propose, San Jose is sure to have just the spot for you. We’ve gathered a few proposal ideas, just to get you started.

Religious

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph is the oldest non-mission parish in California. The church itself is a stunning edifice, built on the Greek Cross plan and filled with beautiful frescoes and stained glass windows. Whether you and your sweetheart are catholic, or just lovers of fine historical architecture, you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful space to propose in.

High Tech

What would a blog about San Jose Proposal Ideas be without a mention of a “techy” proposal?  The Tech Museum of Innovation is another example of awesome, if modern, architecture, and represents a geeky Silicon Valley paradise. If your girl is a nerd to the core, then this might be a lighthearted and fascinating place for a proposal. Spend some time programming robots and marveling at some of the displays, then find a unique and, well, innovative way to propose. The robot that spells out messages in alphabet blocks may be a good place to start.

Radiant

Roses are the symbol of romance in American culture, and you can’t get more romantic than the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden. Here hundreds of varieties of roses bloom in wide fields, bordered by parks, gardens and a historic orchard. This is an ideal location for an early summer picnic proposal, nestled among the fragrant blossoms.

Meditative

For a more contemplative nature experience, head for the Japanese Friendship Garden. This six acre park is a breathtaking masterpiece of landscaping and Eastern design, filled with gorgeous vistas and small, secret nooks. This is an ideal place for a quiet, private proposal, and there are a number of perfect spots in the park, from the low arched bridge over a rippled pool to the shade beneath a willow tree.
