Proposal Ideas on Pinterest

If you are a man looking for proposal ideas, Pinterest is probably the last place you would think to look.  However, you might want to reconsider that.  The Heart Bandits and many other vendors that you can use for your engagement have inspiration boards on Pinterest.  Our page obviously has many different engagement ideas but you can also use Pinterest to find engagement rings, photographers, and much more.  For you Pinterest virgins, here is a glimpse of what you can find to help you with your marriage proposal.

How to Propose

One of the first steps in proposal planning is figuring out how to propose.  On our page alone you can find out how to propose in the winter, outdoors, indoors, etc. One of my favorite images on this page is the picture below which shows how to propose using an instrument.  The guy put a beautiful piano in the middle of a field and then surprised his girlfriend by playing a song for her.

Proposal Ideas for the Busy Executive

Because I went to MIT, I know it may sound weird that I’m a marriage proposal planner at The Heart Bandits. Maybe, but I think this is one of the coolest jobs in the world. I still have lots of friends that are in engineering and they live very busy lives. I know people like this have great intentions to have great marriage proposal ideas, but they simply don’t have the time because of their schedules. To help out today, I’m providing some proposal ideas for the busy executive.

Vacation on Your Next Business Trip

If you are a busy executive, chances are that you take many business trips. Sure some of these places may not seem like the greatest, but that may only be because you are not experiencing it with the right person. Next time your company wants to send you out of town, make arrangements to stay a little longer so you can bring your sweetie along. You can explore the city and propose in someplace new to you both.

Surprise Her at Your Office

This will work well if you are stuck at your office most of the day. Tell her that you are really busy but that she should meet you at your office for dinner. When she arrives, you will have a surprise proposal waiting for her that is sentimental to your relationship. This could be a musician or simply a romantic setup.

Surprise Her at Her Office

Even better than having her come over, is you go over to her office. Call her and tell her you’re about to take lunch but tell her to step outside. When she steps outside she will be surprised that you are there. She will be even more surprised when you propose as part of your surprise.

Private Room Rental at Nice Restaurant

If you are really busy then you probably eat out a lot so you may know good restaurants. If that’s the case, then you should look into one that has a private room available. Next time you go this restaurant with your girl, sneak her away to the private room for the proposal.

Hire a Proposal Planner

All of the above proposal ideas are great but they’re only the starting point. To make your proposal truly amazing, you could use help, especially if you’re really busy. Hiring a proposal planner will be the perfect way because you will not be stressed out and you will have an amazing proposal. We can give you amazing tips and ideas on how to make a proposal happen when you’re busy and how to make it extremely memorable.

Marriage Proposal Planning Video Showing a Proposal with Paparazzi Photographers

A few weeks ago we featured Andy’s amazing proposal that took place in New York City.  Read all about it here.  The back story is that Andy’s beautiful girlfriend is a Kourtney Kardashian look alike and constantly gets confused for her.  As a result, Andy really wanted to plan a proposal involving paparazzi.  We were so happy to be involved in this proposal and we think it was an amazing proposal idea.  We hired 4 photographers to follow Andy and Nancy and pretend to be paparazzi, asking Nancy a bunch of questions that we had sent them beforehand.  At the end of the walk, Nancy’s family and friends surprised her by popping out with signs that had love notes on them from Andy. As you can see from the video below, Nancy was ecstatic about the proposal.   Jillian Eugenios from NY City News Service followed the entire proposal, interviewed The Heart Bandits, and also interviewed Andy and Nancy so she could make a documentary style bit on Marriage Proposal Planning.  Check it out and let us know what you think!

If you need help coming up with the perfect proposal idea or with proposal planning, contact The Heart Bandits today.  We are the worlds most recognized Proposal Planners and we will make sure you have a flawless, amazing, unique proposal.  Please take the time to go to our website and read the testimonials from our past clients as well as the media that has featured our unique services.  We have been featured in Forbes, NY Times, LA Times and much more and we have just what it takes to make your proposal perfect.

How to Propose Without Speaking A Word

Marriage proposal planning has some really good perks. One of the main ones is that I get to see many live marriage proposals and see the raw emotion that is generated. One of the coolest ways of proposing that I have been seeing as a marriage proposal planner is when people propose without actually speaking a word themselves. How is that possible you ask? Well I’ll tell you I say. Below are examples of how to propose without actually speaking a word. These methods can be used if you want the moment to speak for itself or if you don’t want or need a proposal speech.

Through Signs or Banners

I love these proposals. It’s one thing to ask your girlfriend to marry you through words, but it’s another to go through the effort of putting it in writing in a creative way. Using signs and banners in your proposal is a great way to create a surprise. She will never expect it. You can propose without even speaking a word.

Using a YouTube Proposal Video

Using a pre-filmed video is a great way to gather a lot of things together that wouldn’t normally be available to you on your proposal day. You can generate a lot of emotion through it and simply have text asking her to marry you, or have there be a small clip of you asking on bended knee. When you show this video, you can just watch your girlfriend as the moment comes to life without having to say a word.

Through Sign Language or Metaphors

There’s a study that says 93% of communication is non-verbal. If it’s such a large number then why can’t you propose with non-verbal communication? You certainly can! You can use sign language, or better yet, use a metaphor that is relevant to only your relationship.

With Help From a Song or Person

This is a great way to propose because someone else can do the work for you and thereby create a larger surprise and most likely, a more emotional factor. You can even do it with a song that someone is serenading to you two.

I didn’t put all of these examples here to say that it’s a bad thing to propose in your own words, I merely used them to show that it’s possible to propose without having to speak. You can certainly add any of these elements into your proposal idea for added emotional effect and then actually propose at the end. If you would like your own amazing proposal idea or are not sure how to propose properly then we can help. We are The Heart Bandits proposal experts and have helped many people before create the proposal of their dreams. Contact us today to get started.

Proposal Ideas for 2013

Now that we are settled into the new year, we thought that it was our duty as Wedding Proposal Planners to give you our thoughts on what to expect in marriage proposals in 2013. As with almost any industry, you see trends from year to year. In the last few years we have seen the trend of flash mobs and movie trailer productions as proposal ideas. But in this new year, we will see different things. Here is our take on marriage proposal ideas to expect in 2013.

Green Proposal

Just last month, Michele wrote a post on How to Create a Green Proposal. This was a very timely post in that we are seeing a huge trend towards everything being eco-conscious. With proposal ideas, you can also add your own ways of keeping your environment clean while having an amazing marriage proposal story.

Tablet Proposal Idea

We’ve seen several proposals that have used an iPhone or an iPhone app to create a proposal. The next trend will take that a step further by using a tablet. Tablets are nice because they are still lightweight and as easy to use as a smart phone but they have a larger screen so you can have more to work with. You can create a display of faces and show it to your partner in a cute way. We have a great way to implement this so contact us about it. ?

A Cappella Surprise Proposal

Though we’ve seen a huge spike in flash mobs where the crowd dances around, one thing that will be different and trending in 2013 is the A Cappella Proposal. This is similar but more romantic than the flash mob because it will be a group of strangers that sing “your” song in a surprise fashion. Luckily for you, we actually already offer this as one of our All Inclusive Proposal Packages.

Help from Celebrities

As proposals keep getting more elaborate, then it will be no surprise that people will enlist the help of celebrities to make their proposals even grander. If your partner loves a certain band or celebrity, then having that band or celebrity help in the actual proposal will make for an unforgettable moment.

If you want to be ahead of the curve and create a wedding proposal that hasn’t been done lots of times over, then we can help. We know the trends that have happened and can help you with ideas and marriage proposal planning so that you wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. We are experts at everything proposals so we know how to help. Contact us today to get started.

Boston Marriage Proposal on the DCR Esplanade

Nicole Chan Photography 2012

I know I say this every time I feature a romantic marriage proposal by The Heart Bandits, but this time I am just SO excited to share this with you.  Jason contacted us because he really wanted to create a special proposal for his girlfriend and he wanted it to be on the DCR Esplanade because they have so much history there.  Keep in mind that this is Boston, in December, so we had some concerns.  We came up with this beautiful clear wall tent idea so they could have an amazing outdoor Boston marriage proposal but still be warm.  Once we came up with this awesome proposal idea, we soon realized there were going to be many hurdles.  For one, the DCR Esplanade requires permits to do any kind of event and they do not normally allow events such as this.  Maybe it was the holiday season or just love in the air, but they made an exception for us. We also had to conquer some challenges with the Public Safety permits.  But after a lot of hard work, you will see that the proposal turned out amazing and this was a great Boston proposal idea.

“This much” is how much Jason loves her.  An inside joke and a very cute touch.

She thought they were just going for a walk when they stumbled upon this romantic surprise.  She was shocked.

This is why I love my job.  Look at her reaction.  So special!

How to Propose on a Rooftop

Rooftop Proposal Planned by The Heart Bandits

One of the most popular requests we get from clients that are proposing are for rooftop proposals.  We even offer several rooftop proposal packages on our NYC Proposal Ideas page here, and other cities on our All Inclusive Proposal Packages page.   What you might not know is there is a lot of work and forethought that goes into having the perfect rooftop marriage proposal. The easiest way for you to pull it off is to hire The Heart Bandits- Wedding Proposal Planners. We will take care of every last detail for you so all you do is show up and propose. However, if you are wondering how to propose on a rooftop and you want to plan your rooftop proposal by yourself, follow our guide below for how to propose on a rooftop.

Set a Realistic Budget

Depending on what city you plan on proposing in, renting out a private rooftop can be expensive. For example, in New York City if you want a view of the Empire State building, you are going to have to pay for it. This is another good reason to consider hiring a Wedding Proposal Planner. They should be able to use their connections to get you a better deal than you could get yourself.

Decorations

As part of your budget, think about how you will decorate the rooftop. Is the view enough or do you want to add flowers, candles, or a theme? How will you propose? Will you eat dinner, look at pictures, just ask? You need to ask yourself all of these questions.

Location

After you have set aside a budget for your proposal, now you are ready to find a rooftop to rent. Think about what you would like for your rooftop. Do you want an amazing view? Are you looking for a rooftop garden? Is it just privacy you are after?

Think Safety

Make sure when you pick your rooftop that you have done your research on the venue. You want to ensure it is safe and secure. Make sure it is in a good neighborhood and do your research!

Think About Lighting

If you plan on having a proposal photographer, then lighting is something you must consider. A lot of rooftops are high above the city lights and therefore darker. If pictures are important, you will need to bring in some lighting or request the venue to provide some.

Back Story

You are going to need a back story for how you will get your girlfriend to go up to the rooftop without suspecting anything. The surprise factor is important for a rooftop proposal.

Weather

You will need to consider weather when planning your rooftop proposal.  If you are proposing in the summer, you want to make sure to have a plan in place if it is going to be uncomfortably hot or humid. If it is in the fall or winter months, what will you do if it rains?  Read our blog about why you should not let rain ruin your proposal here.

Romantic Beach Proposal

Sometimes you really can’t go wrong with a proposal that is simple but in a romantic setting. That is exactly how Sameer’s proposal was. He told his girlfriend that he wanted to take her to a nice dinner so he had her get dressed up. He took a quick pit stop by the beach where to her surprise, there was a violinist playing her favorite Indian song and there was a very romantic picnic setup on the beach. Waterfall and Band Proposal

Darin was a pleasure for us to work with. He truly loved Genessa and he had taken her all over the world. He had another trip planned to Portland and he wanted to make it extra special. He took her to a beautiful waterfall where we had arranged an a cappella group to serenade her as he proposed. Afterwards, he surprised her again by taking her to a rooftop in Portland where there was a band waiting to perform for only them as a celebration. Read more about this Romantic Proposal Idea here.

How to choose the perfect engagement ring for your girlfriend’s personality

If you’re planning to choose the ring for your marriage proposal, it’s vital to pick out something that is suitable for your girlfriend’s unique tastes. All types of jewelry can be personal to the recipient, but an engagement ring should reflect the fact that you understand something about your beloved, and should therefore match her personality.

The Main Types of Engagement Rings

Brilliant Cut

This is one of the more popular types of rings and accounts for around 75% of diamonds sold today. If you’re unsure about what type of ring to go for and your girlfriend is a traditional type of lady then a brilliant cut ring is a fail-safe choice. If however, she is quite quirky then she may find this ring a little bland for her tastes.

Emerald Cut

This is another popular choice due to the fact that it’s fairly safe and traditional. It’s a rectangular shape with the corners cut off and is flattering to shorter fingers. If your girl likes to appear elegant and refined but doesn’t like to stand out in a crowd then the emerald cut is definitely the best choice.

Princess Cut

This type of engagement ring is generally square or rectangular in shape and because it’s cut with numerous facets it easily catches the light. This cut is often found in solitaire style rings but offers a welcome break from the classic round shape of many solitaires. If your partner loves all things girly and would feel comfortable surrounded by all things pink, then a Princess cut ring would be very apt.

Marquis Cut

If you have always considered your girlfriend to be a unique individual then a Marquis Cut ring would be perfect for her as it is different from other types of engagement rings. It’s an unusual elongated shape with distinctive pointed ends and is the ideal way to make shorter fingers appear longer and more slender. Marquis just seems to have something different and gives the wearer a bit of an edge over most other cuts.

Pear Cut

This effortlessly combines the best of the Oval and Marquis cuts and can look a bit like a tear drop, and of course tears don’t always represent sadness, they can also come about because of joy and happiness. Pear cut rings are generally seen as traditional but with a bit of a twist, so they offer a little more originality than other styles.

The key is to remember exactly what it was about your girlfriend that made you fall madly in love with her in the first place. Was it her intelligence, integrity and compassion? Maybe you love how unique she can sometimes be without realizing it. Is your girlfriend very glamorous and confident? Or is she cute and a little quiet? All of these personality traits should be taken into account when you’re looking at engagement rings because some styles will not suit certain women. For example, would you really imagine that a shy retiring lady would want a ‘gumball’ machine style ring that attracts too much attention? If you think carefully before parting with any cash then you should not go too far wrong. Of course, if you’re really frightened of getting it completely wrong, ask a close friend of your girlfriend’s to come along with you. In this case it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
