Back in the day when I used to think about the word “vintage”, I used to think it was just a nice way of describing something old. I had no idea that something “old” could actually be cool. With marriage proposals especially, bringing in an element of something vintage can be a great way to make it romantic. So for today’s blog, I will be providing a proposal planner’s guide on how to create a vintage engagement.

Incorporate Vintage Furniture Items

This is the easy and hard part at the same time. It’s easy because you know what you have to do; get vintage furniture and items. It’s hard because you actually have to go about finding it. When I say “vintage”, I mean items that could be anywhere from the 1970’s all the way back to the 1800’s. The point is that their style has to look as if it’s older.

Usually these items have paint that is faded but the look can make your overall proposal setup look nice and classic. Try looking at antique stores for items for your proposal. Proposal Planners like The Heart Bandits are an excellent resource to help you with this kind of setup.

Dress the Part

This could be the fun part. We recently did a proposal where the girl loved 1950’s attire (aka vintage) and the guy had her dress the part. For your vintage engagement, select the era that she loves, set up your proposal site to look like that, and have her get clothing to match. It will be very adorable proposal.

Create a Theme Party

Another way of creating a vintage engagement is by simply having a theme party of the era. You don’t actually have to invite other people though, it can be an intimate party for 2 with the theme including pictures, artifacts, and music from your time period.

Visit Vintage Location

If you can’t setup something vintage on your own, then an alternative would be to actually go somewhere that is already looking the part. Think of an old town square or even festivals that celebrate that time. This is an easy way to include vintage into your proposal. Make sure that the rest of your proposal idea is in line and incorporates aspects of your relationship.
