I know what you are thinking.  What is a library doing in a blog about marriage proposals and romance?  Well as the relevant cliche says, never judge a book by its cover.  This isn’t just a library with a bunch of books, though it has that too.  It also has art exhibits, botanical gardens, drama and a café.

Planning a date at The Huntington Library is sure to impress.  Show your sophisticated side by walking through the art exhibits and striking up a conversation about the different pieces.  Next, stroll hand in hand through the botanical gardens which feature roses with romantic names such as ‘Secret Love’ and ‘First Kiss’.  Tell her how much you enjoy her company while having lunch at the Rose Garden Tea Room which overlooks the garden.  Check their Calendar for events such as Drama after Dark: A Night of the Macabre with Poe and Gorey.  That’s right, live theater!

The Huntington Library Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to propose.  You won’t need any fancy props or elaborate storyline.  In fact, they only allow traditional on-bended-knee types of proposals.  That is because the stage is already set with picturesque gardens, singing birds, and the sound of streaming brooks.   After she says yes, and how could she not, arrange to have your engagement pictures taken in the very place you proposed.  The Heart Bandits highly recommend The Huntington Library for all things romance.  Ooooh La La!  Check out their website for more information.
