Ben’s “Sweet” Proposal By The Heart Bandits

Ben contacted us and really wanted to plan a simple, intimate, and lovely proposal for his honey in Des Moines, Iowa.  He didn’t have a clue what he wanted to do but he knew that his girlfriend would want something private and low key.  She had a big sweet tooth and they had a lot of memories.  We put together a scavenger hunt which lead her to places they had been together and each clue was in a candy box that related to the memory.  Here is how it went in Ben’s words:

“I had her open boxes throughout the evening, each with a memory and picture of something we did together, and a dessert which when possible was related to the memory.  Some boxes were clues to where we were going next (Shanghai for dinner, which was on our first date, for example).   Then we went to the boardwalk around the lake (where we had our first kiss) and at the end of the dock another box was waiting.  The box had “Remember when…” on the front and “I proposed” on the back and she loved it!”

Congratulations Ben!

Let The Heart Bandits Plan Your “Promposal”

In today’s day and age with YouTube and social media, creativity is being pushed farther than ever before.  So it’s no surprise that the simple question of asking someone to a dance, and especially Prom, has become a much bigger deal than… well simply asking someone to a dance.  A new trend has emerged called the “Promposal” where people go to elaborate means to ask the girl they want to take to the dance in a creative way.  To many, they may not have the slightest clue as to how to be creative or how to go about something like this but they do know they definitely want to impress their date (and their peers).  Luckily The Heart Bandits are here to help.   With our background in romance and marriage proposal planning, we will assist you in making your “Promposal” legendary.  If you want actors to stop your future date as she’s walking to school/work and perform a routine, we can help.  If you want a banner to drop down in front of her as you are on a date, we can help.  If you want ninjas to appear out of nowhere to help you ask her out, then contact us.  Be the one to set the trend and the benchmark.

These elaborate proposals don’t only have to be to ask someone to Prom or for their hand in marriage.  They could be to ask for a date, to announce a pregnancy to your husband, or to just impress your loved one.  No matter what, it’s a very cute and memorable thing to do that will go a long way in your relationship and be remembered for a long long time.

If you would like us to plan your Promposal or special event or announcement contact us today!  We are experts in romantic event planning and can help make whatever you want to do a reality.

Mexico Marriage Proposal Brings Childhood Story To Life

As a little girl Liz’s grandma used to tell her a story about a Spanish cowboy named “Cristobal”.  As Liz grew into a beautiful woman she always hoped she would find her own Cristobal; a cowboy that would whisk her away and make her dreams come true.  And she did!

In March, a very excited Michael called me and told me that he wanted to make Liz’s childhood fantasy a reality.  He explained that he was going to take her on a trip to Mexico and there he would like to ride up to her on a horse and whisk her away to another proposal location where he would ask Liz to be his wife.  There was only one big problem.  Michael called a few places in Playa Del Carmen and was told that it was illegal to ride horses on most beaches in Mexico.  Due to a combination of his very busy schedule and the language barrier problems he was having, Michael decided he needed some help.  That is where The Heart Bandits came in.

We assured Michael that we would find a place where he could pull off her dream proposal, and we did.  With the help of Punta Venado Resort, we were able to give Liz the proposal of a lifetime.  Michael left a note for Liz while she was in the shower instructing her to get dressed and go out to the front lobby to catch her ride.  She was taken to Punta Venado Resort and was given another note saying that she would need to take a ride on an ATV and once she reached her destination she should look off to the North.  Michael came galloping from the North and approached Liz  on a beautiful horse.  He picked her up and rode to a palm tree that we had decorated with a blanket, tiki torches, flowers, and champagne.  Here is where he proposed.   With the help of Fusion Photography, we were able to capture the beautiful moment on film.  Check out the pictures and tell me it doesn’t bring a tear to your eye!  Que Rico!  Congrats Michael and Liz!

Men’s Health Survey Regarding Romance

Men’s Health conducted a survey on “Perceptions of What Is Romantic“.  There are many interesting results, but for me, I found the following data very intriguing.

What the average guy thinks is the best time to propose: A random date and time

The best place to pop the question: A place that holds sentimental value

Percentage of women who would prefer a romantic proposal to a gaudy ring: 84

Why do I think that is interesting?  Because it is exactly what I tell all of my clients.  A lot of my clients want to propose on their anniversary or a major holiday.  It isn’t a deal breaker but I think a random date is better because she won’t be expecting it. Also, when you propose that day should be just about you and her and the proposal.  And that date will become an anniversary of the day you proposed!

Where to pop the question and how are obviously the things we get asked the most and my advice is always to do it at a place and in a way that is special to both of you.  You shouldn’t just randomly propose at a restaurant that you have never been too simply because it seems romantic.  I recommend you propose at a place and in a way that has a lot of meaning to your individual relationship.  Something that will show her that you put a great deal of thought into this.

84% of women would rather have a romantic proposal than a guady ring.  Interesting!  So why then do men create a big budget for a ring and almost no budget for the proposal?  Yes you have to have a nice ring, but the way you propose is the most important part.  It is the day she has dreamed of her whole life, you have to give her an amazing story.

Hire The Heart Bandits Proposal Planners to give her that amazing story.  We will send you a questionnaire to get to know your relationship and your sweetie and we will help you create a breathtaking proposal that will be based off of your love story.  Contact us today!

Proposing at Her Work

So I saw this proposal the other day.  It was of a lovely meteorologist doing her daily job of telling the world about the weather.  She is doing her weather routine when all of the sudden her beau shows up in a suit to propose to her!  As I am watching I get my usual gushy feelings and think about how sweet it is.  But then it got me thinking………….should a man really propose to his girlfriend at work?   In this case it had a unique twist because the proposal was televised due to his girlfriends role on TV.  However, I think as a rule of thumb you should NOT propose to your honey while at work.

I have a few reasons for feeling this way.  First, just the idea of getting proposed to at work is not very romantic.  Us girls dream of getting proposed to our whole lives and we want something magical.  We want to know that our sweeties came up with some amazing proposal concept to sweep us off of our feet.  We want candles or roses or a white horse!  You just can’t do all that at work.  It isn’t the right ambiance.  And then what do you do after he proposes?  Do you just go back to work?  Do you take the rest of the day off to celebrate in your work attire?  It is just so anti-climatic.

Fellas….or ladies……if you are going to propose, do not do it at their work.  Come up with an amazing and romantic proposal that will jump start your lives together.  Hire The Heart Bandits to help you come up with a unique and customized marriage proposal.  You don’t have to rely on the generic ideas off of the Internet anymore!  We are here to help.  Contact us today.

How to Get Engagement Ring Through Airport Security

A question The Heart Bandits receive quite often is, “How do I get the engagement ring through airport security?”  If you are having a destination proposal this is an important question to consider.  Make sure you do not carry the ring on your body.  The scanner could detect the ring and TSA may ask you to take it out of your pocket which would ruin the surprise.  You definitely don’t want to put it in your checked luggage because that could get lost and then you will be a very sad man.  So what should you do then?  You should put the ring in your carry-on luggage! This way you just put your carry-on luggage through the scanner and it will go right on through.  Make sure you hide it under clothes or other items so that if by chance they do need to open the luggage she won’t see it.  If you don’t normally travel with a carry-on, now is the time to start.  Also, our clients are always asking us how to hide their bulky engagement ring box on the day they propose.  The answer is, buy a thin engagement ring box!! Ring Stash, www.ringstash.com offers a .5 inch ring box that will help you keep your proposal a secret until you are ready to reveal it.   Hire The Heart Bandits to help you come up with the most amazing and unique proposal concept.  We specialize in intimate or over-the-top proposals such as mob proposals.  Contact us today.
