Portland Proposal Idea That You’ll Love

This year Portland is trailblazing the proposal scene.  First, it was the Portland marriage proposal planned by The Heart Bandits which involved umbrellas that spelled out “Will You Marry Me?”  Now it is the first ever live lip-dub marriage proposal.  Actor Isaac Lamb gathered 60 friends and surprised his girlfriend Amy Beth Frankel with this well-choreographed dance routine to Marry Me.  We love it because it is such a unique proposal idea and takes the very much played out Flash Mob and puts a new spin on it.  Amy is being driven in a Honda and while listening to “Marry Me”, Isaac’s friends are acting, singing, dancing, and more.  This unique marriage proposal will make you laugh and cry.

Here is the original Portland marriage proposal planned by The Heart Bandits.

If you want to plan an amazing romantic proposal for marriage like this, hire The Heart Bandits to take care of all of the stressful details for you. We will find the perfect location for where to propose at, hire the musicians for you, hire the dancers for you, and coordinate with everyone so you don’t have to.  We even hire the videographer for you.  Check out the videos and leave a comment about what you these of this proposal.

Best Celebrity Marriage Proposals

Celebrities are well known for being over the top and celebrity engagements are not an exception. From large diamond rings to popping the question on live television, here is a countdown of the best celebrity marriage proposals:

  • Seal and Heidi Klum – Heidi Klum described Seal’s proposal as a “once in a lifetime event”. The singer arranged for a helicopter to deliver the couple to a 14,000-foot tall glacier. An igloo was built atop the glacier, which contained a covered with rose petals, candles, and champagne. Seal asked for Heidi’s hand in marriage with a 10-karat diamond ring.
  • Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon – Ryan Phillippe took a hint from popular marriage blogs when he proposed to actress Reese Witherspoon. He proposed to her at the Planter’s Inn, bed and breakfast in Savannah, Georgia. He proposed while serving Witherspoon waffles with strawberries and whipped cream in bed.
  • Courtney Cox and David Arquette – David Arquette proposed to Courtney Cox on a beach in Florida. This may seem like a typical engagement, but the star factor occurred as Arquette arranged for fireworks to go off as soon as he asked her to marry him.
  • Pink and Carey Hart – Pink took the ropes on this proposal, asking boyfriend Carey Hart to marry her. While Hart was doing laps on a motor cross track, the singer held up a sign that asked “Will You Marry Me?” She then flipped the sign over to reveal the message “I’m serious.”
  • Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott – This proposal was centered on one of Spelling’s favorite holidays: Christmas. Dean arranged for a horse-drawn carriage to take him and Spelling down a path lit with Christmas lights. At the end of the path, stood a table surrounded by Christmas trees, holding a diamond and sapphire ring. Can you say picture perfect?
  • Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley – Josh Kelley’s proposal to Katherine Heigl was nothing short of thoughtful. As the couple met on the set of one of Josh’s music videos, Josh took her back to the same bungalow where they first met to ask for her hand in marriage.
  • Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise – Tom Cruise proposed to Katie Holmes just as every little girl imagines it. He took her to a restaurant in Paris called Le Jules Verne for a romantic dinner. The couple then went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, where Tom Cruise popped the question.
  • Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon – Nick Cannon’s proposal was actually the inspiration for Mariah Carey’s perfume called Lollipop Bling. To ask for her hand in marriage, Nick creatively presented Mariah with a ring pop that contained the engagement ring.

Engagement Rings – Liberty Diamonds

The Heart Bandits are happy to introduce you to Liberty Diamonds, the perfect place to get your engagement ring.  Liberty Diamonds is a jewelry store with locations in Irvine, CA and Los Angeles, CA that specializes in custom-designed engagement rings, wedding bands, and all other jewelry. We recently got the opportunity to interview Troy Lob from Liberty Diamonds and we could tell right away that he loves what he does. Read our interview:

How did you get started in the jewelry business?

My father David who learned how to cut diamonds in South Africa, started Liberty Diamonds in 1982 as Orange County’s premier Diamond cutters and wholesalers. As the years went by my father with the help of my mother started the retail side of Liberty Diamonds by selling fine custom-made jewelry and diamonds to the public at prices better than the LA diamond district here in the heart of Orange County. Shortly after I moved home from college in 1999, my father offered me a job. Then soon after I took a Diamond Grading class through Gemological Institute of America which I excelled and was #1 in my class! I absolutely loved looking at diamonds and right then I knew I found my calling! Then I concluded my studies and became a G.I.A. Graduate Gemologist! The rest is history!!!

What is your role at Liberty Diamonds?

My job title is Vice President and GIA Graduate Gemologist. I manage our remote location in the Los Angeles Diamond District, which I opened in 2002. As well I’m the main diamond buyer and work directly with our suppliers (making sure all our diamonds are “Conflict Free”)! As well I work hand-in-hand with my clients to custom create one-of-a-kind designs with CAD-cam technology and teach them how to purchase the right diamond for their budget! Not to mention I’m an appraiser and can value any jewelry item or at least tell you what it is!

What is the reason people should come to Liberty Diamonds over any other jewelry store for an engagement ring?

At “Liberty Diamonds” it’s “Our Mission” to provide you with the best customer service, quality hand-picked diamonds and offer all the services the big mall stores do, at literally a fraction of the cost! We are on your side when it comes to finding the best value for your money and we provide our clients with an educational approach when selling diamonds, utilizing the latest technology available in the diamond business! Such as a Sarin diamond scanner, ASET camera light tracing technology, and Dyno Micro-scopic camera. As technology does not lie, it makes shopping with Liberty Diamonds an experience rather than a chore.

What is the best piece of advice you can give someone who is looking for an engagement ring?

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a good price is forgotten”

Is the 3x your salary rule a good rule?

Yes it is, so try to stick to that budget! In rare cases if you always hoped for a certain size and quality or she hinted at it? You might need to save a bit longer!

Thanks Troy!  If you want to find the perfect engagement ring, stop by Liberty Diamonds and tell them we sent you.  If you want to plan the perfect proposal, The Heart Bandits help you come up with the best proposal idea and then plan it for you STRESS FREE.  Also, our clients are always asking us how to hide their bulky engagement ring box on the day they propose.  The answer is, buy a thin engagement ring box!! Ring Stash offers a .5 inch ring box that will help you keep your proposal a secret until you are ready to reveal it.

Romantic Ideas – Surprise Your Partner With a Trip

Today’s featured The Heart Bandits Romantic Ideas tip is to surprise your partner with a trip.  If it is in your budget then certainly do something big like surprise them with a trip to New York City or the Bahamas.  But it doesn’t have to be somewhere far or expensive.  Use Google to find a new town that is 2 hours away from you and then get a hotel room there!  Marvin and I have done that many times.  We live in Los Angeles so when Marvin and I want a romantic getaway we go to Solvang, Santa Barbara, or Palm Springs.  Here are some things you should think about when planning a surprise romantic trip for your partner:

Scheduling

The first thing you should think about is are there any scheduling conflicts on the weekend that you want to surprise your partner?  Figure out a way to casually ask if they have anything planned that weekend.  If they have an unpredictable work schedule, you may want to check with their boss as well.

Where You Will Go

Next you need to decide where you will go.  Will you go somewhere far and expensive, or just somewhere close by and affordable?

Responsibilities

If you have any pets or children, make sure you think about who will take care of them when you are gone.

What You Will Do

You need to figure out what you will do on your getaway.  You may want to do absolutely nothing and just relax, or you may want a full romantic itinerary.  The Heart Bandits can certainly come up with romantic date ideas for your getaway.

6th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas

Today we’re continuing on our discussion of The Heart Bandits Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas. We are on the 6th Wedding Anniversary which is well into your marriage and by now you’ve established the strength of your relationship. It’s no surprise then that the Traditional 6th Wedding Anniversary gift is iron, which is known for its strength. Here are some iron gift ideas for you and your partner.

Iron Fire Pit

Now this is something that is perfect for couples. If you have a patio or a backyard, get an iron fire pit so that you can both sit out there and relax. You can roast marshmallows, stay warm, and just cuddle up with your sweetheart. It’s great and easy escape for evenings when you don’t want to be indoors watching TV.

Golf Clubs

Since iron is a strong material, if your partner loves golf, this is a no brainer. You can get him or her golf clubs that are high quality and will make them happy to be with you. You can even go play golf together to enjoy the scenery and each other.

Iron Artwork and Sculptures

I’m sure you’ve seen these sculptures at art shows and crafts festivals. These are cute little sculptures made from iron that usually depict people in some profession. Look to buy one of that depicts your partner’s profession, passion, or your relationship. For example, if you two love to bicycle, buy an iron sculpture that has two people on bicycles.

Cast Iron Cookware

At this point of your relationship, it makes perfect sense to give a practical gift every now and then. Cookware, and especially cast iron cookware, is perfect for having a date night at home making a specialty dinner.

Romance Ideas – Schedule Your Time

Our The Heart Bandits Romance Ideas tip this week is to schedule!  I know what you are thinking.  What does a schedule have to do with romance.  Although scheduling doesn’t sound romantic, it is critical in a relationship where the couples are busy or the couple has children.  What do I mean by scheduling?

Make Time

Everyone has the excuse that there is no time to be romantic, no time to plan dates.  But the truth is, if you want to keep the spark alive, you have to make time to be romantic.

Schedule

Making time leads me to my next point.  Don’t just make time, schedule it!  I know how hard this is.  Marvin and I work crazy hours but we are newlyweds so we have to make time to spend together and if we don’t schedule it, it may never happen.

Stick To It

Once you make the schedule, stick to it.  If you start saying “Oh well this came up” then it isn’t going to work.  Make time, schedule, stick to it, and enjoy your romantic ideas!

If you would like more romance help , then contact us today. The Heart Bandits are romance experts and can help you bring that spark in your relationship that you’ve been looking for.

Boston Proposal Ideas

As a Proposal Planner at The Heart Bandits, I get to visit and study different cities for the perfect places to propose marriage that is relevant to the couple. Whenever I review marriage proposal ideas for a city that I’ve been to, or lived it’s especially fun for me. Today I’m reviewing proposal ideas for Boston and I’m excited because I used to live in Boston for 4 years while I was in college. It’s a great city and there are tons of places where you can have a great proposal at.  Here are some Boston proposal ideas:

Boston Commons

This place is absolutely gorgeous and it’s right in the center of the city. It has an enormous amount of history, being that it is the oldest city park in the US and it is a beautiful place to walk around at. You can take your love around Swan Lake and propose in the spring time. You can also build a snowman here in the winter and place your engagement ring on it as you surprise your sweetie.

Top of the Hub

This is located at the top of the Prudential building which is the second tallest building in Boston. There aren’t too many tall buildings in Boston so you can be assured that the views you get from here will be spectacular. Take your partner here to enjoy a romantic dinner as prelude or as celebration for your proposal.

The Charles River

In the summer time this is the perfect place to rent a small sailboat and enjoy the charming city skyline. You can even take a gondola ride over there with Gondolas de Venezia . Since it’s right next to the city you can propose here then go celebrate at one of the great restaurants on Newbury St.

Freedom Trail

If your sweetie is a history buff, then along this trail would be a good place to propose. There are many churches and landmarks that have a ton of American history associated with it. Take your partner to this trail to make your own romantic history by proposing at a famous location.

MIT

Ok ok, I’m only throwing that in there because it has a special place in my heart J. But there are tons of colleges and universities in the Boston area and if you’re significant other went to school there a good place to propose might be where they had a lot of great memories.

If you would like more engagement ideas for Boston or another city it is best to use a proposal planner that knows how to get you the best idea and how to coordinate it. We know the best spots to propose and can help you personalize your proposal to make it unique to your relationship. Contact us today to get started on making your dream proposal concept become reality.

Portland Proposal With Incredible Backdrop

A few months ago, The Heart Bandits were contacted by Keith to help make his proposal to Alyssa a dream come true.  Keith really wanted to propose to Alyssa using umbrellas that spelled out, “Will You Marry Me?”  He needed the help of a Proposal Planner to pull this creative marriage proposal off.  First, we got to work to find the perfect location for the proposal.  We chose Multnomah Falls in Oregon because of the stunning waterfall and also the bridge that is in front of the waterfall.  The outdoors were a very important part of Keith and Alyssa’s life so this was perfect.  Next, we set out to buy the required umbrellas and then we hand painted the letters on each one.  We had to make sure the paint didn’t crack when the umbrellas were folded and that the rain or water didn’t damage the lettering.  This was very time consuming but the look on Alyssa’s face made it all worthwhile.  We then hired a musician to play their song as soon as he saw the couple, which would be the cue for the umbrellas to drop. Last, we coordinated with all of the volunteers and videographer Lance Watts to make sure everyone would be where they needed to be at the exact time they were supposed to be there.  With over 15 volunteers, that was no easy feat but as you can see from the video, it all went perfectly.  The umbrellas were lowered at the exact right time and the engagement was amazing. Leave your comments and share the youtube video with your friends!

If you want to create a romantic and personalized proposal like this, hire The Heart Bandits to help you figure out where to propose, how to propose, and proposal planning.  Contact us today to get started on making your dream proposal come true.
