How To Be Romantic – Perfect Locations for Love Notes

For this week’s post on how to be romantic, my inspiration came from right at home and it was something that Michele did. It was a very sweet and romantic gesture. She is actually in Washington for the week which is very lame because we do everything together but she left a surprise for me. Normally, everyday I make scrambled eggs for us in our attempt to eat Paleo. So this Monday she left early and as I was getting ready to make breakfast, I opened the eggs carton and to my surprise found a note from Michele saying how much she’ll miss me. It was very cute and nice and it gave me the idea to give you guys other ideas where you might want to hide love notes for your sweetie.

In Clothes Pockets

I’ve done this one for Michele before and it’s perfect because neither of you know when your partner will find it. It could be there for years even but when they do find it, it’s a very sweet and gentle surprise as they’re looking in their pockets and find a love note from you.

On or As Food

If you’re serving your partner a food dish, try doing something simple and fun. You can deliver a simple love message by shaping your food dish into a heart. If you’re making something that allows you to write a message, write a quick love note.

On the Shower Mirror

This may be a popular one but I had to include it because I’m sure that there’s still people that don’t know about it. When your partner is showering and it’s steamy, you can leave messages on the mirror so that they find it once they get out.

Screen Saver

If you’re noticing something about all these love note locations, is that they’re all simple. This one is very simple as well. When your partner is not looking, make a quick love message on your computer’s screen saver. You won’t know when they will see it but you get brownie points down the road when they do.

On Your Pet’s Collar

We have a cat that has a collar with a tie (don’t ask). But a couple of times I’ve attached a love note to Michele on that collar. It’s super cute and works well because your partner is essentially being delivered a love note by a messenger.

Some people tend to have trouble with romantic gestures because they’re either too busy, have done all the ideas they can think of, or were just not able to come up with good ideas in the first place. But there is help out there for you romance seekers. The Heart Bandits are Romance Experts and are here to help you bring that spark into your relationship with everything you need in romance advice and romantic dates and planning. If you would like more romantic date ideas or gestures, then contact us today.

5 Ways You Can Use Food To Help With A Wedding Proposal

For most men, what makes a wedding proposal so nerve-wracking is not whether or not she’ll say yes, but how they are going to ask the big question in the first place. Every proposal story we hear seems to top itself and there can be a lot of pressure to ask in a way that’s truly memorable. Here are five ways to use something as simple as food to make it a night she’ll never forget.

Bouquet of Cookies

A cookie bouquet combines a delicious dessert with a classic wedding symbol – the bouquet. And unlike the flower arrangements commonly associated with marriage proposals, this bouquet won’t spend a week wilting away on the kitchen table. Cookie bouquets are an arrangement of cookies, often colored with different types of frosting, to resemble a flower arrangement that is 100% edible. Cookies bouquets can go in a decorated vase, a long-stem roses box, or a wicker gift basket. They create a perfect hiding place for an engagement ring that does not run the risk of an unsuspecting bride-to-be accidentally taking a bite before she knows the ring is there.

Many companies offer same-day delivery for cookie bouquets, but people who are baking-inclined can make their own or buy the cookies and arrange the bouquet themselves.

Custom Box of Chocolates

It’s becoming popular for chocolate companies to create spaces in their boxes for an engagement ring. Some companies can add a photo of the couple on the top of the box and then fill it with truffles or other chocolates. “Will you marry me?” can be digitally added to the photo or the proposal can be made as the chocolates are being opened to show the ring mixed in with the sweets.

Engraving a custom message onto a wooden box is a classy option as well. This is a great way to pop the question in style and the box can be easily be saved to remember the special day.

Dessert Tray Surprise

A restaurant proposal is still a popular way to propose, but it can be made sweeter by arranging for the ring box to be displayed on a dessert tray. The restaurant can write “Will you marry me?” in chocolate above the ring or the box can be placed next to a favorite dessert item. Restaurant review sites like Yelp are a great way to track down venues that are the best for assisting with wedding proposals, but most upper scale restaurants will happily oblige with helping make an engagement special.

Fortune Cookie

Fortune cookies are a great way to deliver the special message to someone you love and can easily be ordered online with a custom message inside. This is a great way to propose after a home cooked dinner or can even be given to the waiter ahead of time at a restaurant so they can bring it out with the dessert.

If you’re more inclined to hand write your own message, a pair of tweezers can pick out the existing message of a regular fortune cookie and be replaced with a slip of paper that you’ve crafted on your own.

Chocolate-Dipped Champagne Bottle

For couples who love wine and chocolate, the perfect way to say, “Will you marry me?” is to put them together. Champagnes like Domaine St. Michelle and Ferrer Brut with the bottles dipped in quality dark chocolate can be ordered online and found in some larger scale wine and spirits stores. The top of the bottle remains uncovered, so it can still be opened and enjoyed and the engagement ring can be tied to the top of the bottle or to the stem of a champagne flute. Despite what you see in the movies, the ring shouldn’t be placed in the bottom of the filled glass. The diamond could end up at the bottom of her stomach instead of on her finger.

Don’t think that a higher price tag necessarily equals a better proposal. Food is a great assistant for the occasion because it’s something we all love. If there’s a certain food or dessert the two of you share in common, it will only make the memory that much more special, and she’ll love it all the more.

How To Be Romantic – Take a Tour of Your Own Town

20120620-095336.jpg

I’ve been living in Los Angeles for a majority of my life. I feel that I know this town really well and I can tell you the best places to go for good eats, fun, and nightlife. Just a couple of weekends ago I wanted to take Michele out on a date but I couldn’t decide where. Then it occurred to that I have a gold mine right in my town. I took her to the Warner Bros VIP tour where we got to check out a lot of TV and movie sets including the Central Perk set from Friends. For this week’s romance tip, if you’re thinking of how to create a romantic date yourself, then one great way would be to take your partner on a tour of your own town. Here are the reasons why.

Discover Hidden Treasures

Whether you take a guided tour or print out a self-walking tour of your own town, chances are you will discover facts and history that you never knew of. You can find out things that will be very fun and you will discover places that you would want to make a note of to come back and check out with your sweetie.

Not Much Planning Needed

Most major cities have these tours. We live in West LA and we constantly see those double-decker buses that take people on tours of movie stars’ homes (which reminds me to use that for another date with Michele J ). These tours are super easy to book and all you have to do is sit down and enjoy the ride. No meticulous detailed oriented planning needed, you just let the tour guide do all the work.

Quality Time with Your Partner

Since it’s a tour, you get the chance to spend good quality time with your loved one. Whenever you’re in a situation where you’re both experience something new, that is definite quality time. Also, if you do small things like hold hands, kiss, and tell them you love them throughout then that will make the entire date more romantic.

Fun Time

These tours are really fun. The tour that Michele and I went on we got to see really cool stuff and have a blast. Tour guides are usually pretty down to earth so you can ask questions and really get the inside-scoop of what your touring.

We at The Heart Bandits are romance experts and are here to help you bring that spark into your relationship with everything you need in romance advice and romantic dates and planning. If you would like more romantic date ideas, then contact us today.

9th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas

Every Friday we offer The Heart Bandits wedding anniversary gift ideas and today we are talking about the 9th anniversary!  The traditional 9 year anniversary gift is pottery or willow and the modern gift is leather.  Below are some anniversary gift ideas to choose from that are made of pottery, willow, or leather.

Personalized Pottery

Get a plate or some other pottery monogrammed or put something like “Michele & Marvin celebrate 9 years”.

Picnic Basket

One of the reasons I suggest a picnic basket to represent the willow anniversary gift, is because you can add things to the basket to make the gift more rich AND you can make a date out of it.  Add a bottle of your partner’s favorite wine, pop in their favorite food, and take them to their favorite location for a date.  Talk about multipurpose!

Leather

With leather there are too many options to list.  For men, buy a monogrammed money clip, wallet, or briefcase.  For women, get a really nice pair of gloves, a photo album, or a journal.

If you would like more wedding anniversary gift ideas, anniversary date ideas, or anniversary party planning, then contact us today. We are your go-to place for all things romance and anniversary.

Using Stuntmen in a Marriage Proposal

Being in the The Heart Bandits Proposal Planning industry, I get to see a lot amazing proposal stories in addition to receiving lots of inquiries that are very unique. One proposal that just caught my attention was the one above where a guy proposes to his girlfriend dressed as Spiderman while fending off some thugs that tried to steal her stuffed animal. The proposal is very unique and fun so it’s an excellent segment into today’s blog about things to keep in mind when using stuntmen in a proposal. I love stuff like this so I’m excited to write this J.

Intriguing Plot

One thing about using stuntmen is that when they are used, the scenario is like a mini-plot line. In the example above, the plot was created where thugs came in and Spiderman was the hero. To use stuntmen properly, a good storyline with a mini-plot should be used to tie it all together. Do NOT just set a random guy on fire and then propose to your girl, that has no meaning.

Make Sure Your Partner Will Like It

Using stuntmen tends to attract a lot of attention. If your partner doesn’t like being the center of attention, then this will not be a good thing. If however your partner doesn’t mind it and he/she likes action movies and superheroes, then there’s a good chance of it going well and your partner liking it.

Don’t Put Your Partner In Harm’s Way

Even more important than the above points, if you’re going to use stuntmen, please make sure that your partner isn’t put in danger and doesn’t freak out and try to attack the stuntmen. One way to make sure of this is to have your stuntmen (like your “thugs” or “ninjas”) act over-the-top and say things that are obviously fake. If they wear silly costumes that’s another way to make it obvious and to give the proposal a more fun vibe.

Hire a Proposal Planner

Planning a proposal with stuntmen performing crazy things is VERY difficult. The only way to ensure it will go right is to use a proposal planner. We’ve worked with stuntmen before and we can easily tell you that there’s a lot involved. The last thing you want to happen is find out last minute you need a permit for your proposal and be left walking out of your venue in your AquaMan outfit empty-handed.

Videotape the Proposal

With so much action involved with stuntmen it is such a good opportunity for an amazing video. Make sure that you have a videographer in place to capture it all at good angles.

Using stuntmen in a proposal can make for a very exciting and memorial moment for you and your partner. You just need to make sure you’re partner will like it and you have all the details and logistics handled properly. To make it go perfect, hire a proposal planner to help you ensure it will go as planed. We are proposal experts that will help you with proposal ideas, planning, and execution. How To Propose In The Summer

20120607-105254.jpg

Summer is almost upon us and if you’re anything like Michele and I, you can’t wait for it to arrive. The weather, the activities, and the excitement of the summer are all so fun. Summer is also one of the best times to propose. For those that are thinking about how to propose in the summer, today we’ll be giving you some proposal ideas to give you a good starting point.

At the Beach

The beach in the summer is one of the best places to propose. Sure you can write your proposal on the sand, but try to tie the rest of your proposal in with your relationship. Some ways of doing this are having a romantic picnic on the beach setup with framed pictures of you two and your partner’s favorite snacks.

Outdoor Terrace or Patio

This is an awesome place to propose. Many cities have venues with terraces and patios that are very romantic and would be great on warm summer nights. The best way to personalize this is to actually rent the space out and have touches that are personal to you two.

Tropical Destination

During the summer, many people take vacation and the destinations tend to have the best weather for couples to have fun. Because of this you can have a destination proposal. Take a vacation to tropical places like Hawaii, Costa Rica, or the Caribbean and arrange with your hotel to have a proposal setup as you arrive.

Winery

Summertime is also a great time to go to a winery. Going wine tasting on a gorgeous day is a great way to spend time with your loved one, especially as the lead-in to a proposal. Wineries also tend to be gorgeous locations and their grounds have many options to have a private proposal with a great view of wine hills.

At a Park

Similar to the beach, you can a very sentimental proposal at a nice park. You can also have one while doing a fun activity like biking to the park, hiking around it, or flying a kite. Make sure that you arrange it so that it seems spontaneous to have a perfect surprise.

Proposing in the summer will give you great memories and can make for an amazing proposal story, if done correctly. Don’t fall into the cheesy proposal trap! Hire a proposal planner to help you make the most of your special moment. We are proposal experts that will help you with proposal ideas, planning, and execution. Contact us today to receive all the proposal help you would ever need.

Los Angeles Proposal by The Heart Bandits With Amazing Story

“I feel like I am at a platform………waiting for a train that will never come”.  That is what Bill’s girlfriend Alison had said to him once when she was wondering when he would propose.  And that is the idea behind this heartfelt proposal.    As soon as Bill heard that statement, he knew he wanted to use it to create his proposal idea.  He decided where to propose would be at  Union Station in Los Angeles, and he called The Heart Bandits to coordinate the event.  Bill has a lot of actor friends so he wanted to use them in the proposal.  An awesome scavenger hunt was created throughout Union Station that would eventually lead Alison to the platform where Bill would propose.

The Heart Bandits got started right away scouting the location and determining where each character should be waiting.  There was a “jazz musician”, a “shoe shine boy”, and a “lone traveler”.  Next, scrolls were created to lead Alison from the restaurant to the platform, meeting these characters on the way.  On the Gold Line platform, Alison was waiting for the train, but this time it came.  Bill stepped off the train and proposed to Alison.  Congrats Bill and Alison!  Check out this lovely proposal and come up with your own creative idea for how to propose.

8th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas

20120601-100859.jpg

It’s Friday today (yes we’re happy about it too) and we’re continuing our installment of The Heart Bandits Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas. Today, we are on the 8th Wedding Anniversary which the traditional gift is that of bronze. Bronze is a metal alloy that is made from two primary elements; copper and tin. Together, they make a better material with a strong bond, which is symbolic of your relationship. Here are some bronze gift ideas for you and your partner.

Bronze Sculpture

Bronze has been in use for centuries and one of the first uses was for artwork. For your 8th anniversary, get your partner a gift of bronze as one of its main uses, sculptures. There are many sculptures that you can get that depict couples together or other imagery that could be relevant to your relationship, such as an angel or heart.

Bronze Picture Frame

This is perfect for reminiscing on your wedding day 8 years ago and commemorating that with a very strong material.

Bronze Book Ends

Though real physical books seem to be becoming a thing of the past with all the iPads and Kindle’s out there, you really can’t beat the décor that your home receives by having a bookshelf with real books. Get some classic books and get your partner some decorative book ends to add a traditional touch to your home.

Bronze Household Decor

At this point in your marriage chances are you’ve established a permanent home. A good way of celebrating your anniversary would therefore be to give gifts that add nice décor to your home with touches of bronze. Some great suggestions are bronze door knockers and chandeliers. These touches give your home a classic yet modern feel.

Bronze Tan

I’m not talking about the spray-on stuff here. What better way to celebrate your anniversary than going to someplace sunny and warm? Take your sweetie on a trip to someplace like Hawaii, the Caribbean, or the South Pacific to work on your tan and enjoy each others company.

Las Vegas Proposal Ideas

20120529-095402.jpg

Las Vegas is a very popular place to visit because of the nightlight and the gambling. Though many people go here to party, it’s also a great place for couples and for engagements. For those of you looking for marriage proposal ideas in the awesome city of Las Vegas, we got you covered today. Here are some ideas on where to propose in Las Vegas that will give you a great starting point for creating your proposal plan.

Bellagio Fountains

This is pretty much the center of Vegas. When the fountain show goes on it is very romantic and attracts crowds. Plan your proposal here during one of the romantic songs and have your picture taken as you propose with the fountain show in the background. Alternatively, if you want a better view of the fountains you may try to make reservations across the street at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant and have a more romantic and intimate time.

Helicopter Ride

This is a great way to make your proposal stand out. Arrange to have a helicopter tour of the strip and propose as you land. The Heart Bandits have planned a proposal like this with extra features such as a landing on a golf course with a large proposal sign. It’s a great way to surprise your partner.

Red Rocks Conservation Area

This is a gorgeous park that you can visit to see amazing mountain views. The mountains here take exactly from their name with red hues and striking features. Take your partner here to get away from the party mode of the city to have a romantic moment. After you propose go back to the Vegas strip to celebrate.

Lake Las Vegas

This is a perfect place for romance. When people think of Vegas and gondola rides, they think of the Venetian on the strip. Though nice, the gondolas there are very touristy and it’s a very crowded area. Lake Las Vegas is the perfect alternative. It’s only 30 minutes from Las Vegas and the resorts there offer gorgeous views and amenities.

Las Vegas is a city that has a ton of things to do. It’s a city that never sleeps and you can find whatever you’re looking for there. If you would like more engagement ideas for Las Vegas or your town it is best to use a proposal planner that knows how to get you the best idea and how to coordinate it. The Heart Bandits know the best places to propose and can help you personalize your proposal to make it unique to your relationship. Contact us today to get started on making your dream proposal concept become reality.
