How to Propose in a Crowd

how-to-propose-in-a-crowd

As someone who helps guys with ideas for wedding proposals often, one common concern that people have is if they should propose in public. The main reason for their concern is what if there’s a crowd. Well as an expert proposal planner at The Heart Bandits, I can tell you that there are ways to make it work to your advantage. Here are some points I want to make for you if you’re wondering how to propose in a crowd.

The Spotlight

One of the biggest reasons to propose in public in front of a crowd is that your moment is in the spotlight. You get to feel like you are a star. Granted, some people may not like attention and that’s ok. But it does add an air of grandeur when your moment is such an attention grabber. It’s amazing if it happens somewhere where people can’t help but look.

Better and More Recognizable Locations

If you’re looking for a proposal location that has it all, it’s going to be hard to find a place that is completely empty. Public locations tend to have the best views and are more recognizable. The picture in this post was from an amazing marriage proposal on Santa Monica Pier. It would have been near impossible to secure a place this amazing that is not in public. Also, you will have the opportunity to visit this place whenever you want and reminisce on your special day.

Support From The Crowd

One thing as proposal planners that we’ve noticed is that the vibe right before a public proposal is amazing. When we’re setting things up, people around have the feeling that something very beautiful is about to happen. They are willing to help out at times and when the actual proposal does happen, they all can’t help but clap and cheer for the newly engaged crowd. It’s an amazing experience.

You Can Zone Into Your Partner

What I mean by this is that when you have a crowd around you, and you are proposing, you can literally zone everyone out and pay attention only to her. This creates a very special moment between you and your partner that is powerful. It seems to almost make time stand still because everyone is watching but you’re only focused on your partner.

Proposing in front of crowds can give you a very memorable marriage proposal story. It just needs to be done right because a lot of things can go wrong. If you would like an idea for your engagement that can be done in front of a crowd, then we are the right people that can help. We have done tons of public proposals in front of crowds and know exactly how to coordinate them. Contact us today to get started.

How To Melt Her Heart Into Saying “I DO!”

This blog post was provided by guest author Bethany Ortiz

Up to 25% of women say a big fat “NO” when popped the question. Thanks to Youtube, the world is aware of just how horrible a wedding proposal can be, but there is a lot to learn from epic proposal fails and successes.

The Ring

Beautiful flowers are great, but the ring is arguably the most important part of the engagement. It’s said that a ring should cost the equivalent of two months of the man’s salary. The ring is more than just a pretty diamond. A ring that was planned and saved for shows the type of provisionary behavior that a woman, regardless of how much money she makes, looks for in a husband.

Girlfriend’s Boundaries

One size does not fit all when it comes to marriage proposals, as evidenced by the internet. A reserved person may not enjoy a public engagement, and an eccentric outgoing  person may not be as impressed with something humble. Think about your girlfriend. When is she most comfortable? Try to tailor your location to her tastes and comfort zone. You don’t want to end up like the guy in the UCLA marriage proposal fail video! Being rejected on a jumbo screen is about as much fun as medieval torture!

Someplace Personal

If you want to go above and beyond fancy dinner proposal, a great way to get creative is to get personal. Where was the first place you met? What are some inside jokes the two of you have? Shared hobbies? Think about your relationship and some of the best times you’ve had together and how to recreate them. Women notice and appreciate extra thought and effort. Take notes from the Delta Airlines proposal that this boyfriend crafted perfectly.

Timing is Everything

It’s true what they say, timing is something to consider. If your life and relationship are sailing smoothly, by all means, go for it! However, if there has been recent added stress like a job transfer, family drama or something adding a bit of pressure to life, it may be smart to wait until things settle back to normalcy to pop the big question.

What You Say

How are you going to sashay into the most important conversation of your life? How do you put so many thoughts and feelings together without sounding cheesy? Speak from your heart. Over the course of the weeks leading up to the engagement keep a small notepad on a phone or laptop (something that you’re around a lot) and whenever you get a thought about something you love about your partner, or a feeling, write it down. A few days before your big day, compile your notes together and go for it. Your partner knows you aren’t a professional writer or speaker and that you’re going to be incredibly nervous. Just focus on the sincerity and truth in what you’re saying and convey it to the best of your ability, if it’s meant to be, you’ll be the happiest fellow in the world!

Romantic Marriage Proposal in Europe

Several months back, we were approached by a young man named Peter. Peter was from New Zealand and was going to be vacationing with his girlfriend Beth all around Europe. He knew that he wanted to spend his life with her and thought that it would make perfect sense to have a romantic proposal in Europe. Because The Heart Bandits do marriage proposal planning, he came to us for support so he can make it come together nicely and we were more than happy to help him in take this next step.

The complete proposal idea and plan was very nice and romantic. In the historic and beautiful city of Bruges in Belgium, Peter arrived with Beth. He took her to a gorgeous area called Minnewater Park which appropriately enough has a lake called Lovers Lake. After walking around the park, Peter and Beth stumbled upon a romantic picnic that had a blanket in her favorite colors, pillows, champagne, framed pictures of  the two of them, and her favorite flowers. To find this setup just for them in a foreign country was definitely a surprise for Beth. Peter then dropped to one knee and proposed to her. She of course said yes! That wasn’t the end though. As soon as she said yes, a choir approached them and serenaded them with the song “Oh Happy Day” which is their song together. The proposal was amazing and it was in a perfect location. Congratulations to Peter and Beth! Photos are courtesy of Weddings by Lily. The choir was Vocal Consort of Brussels.

Proposal Ideas – In Your Hometown

One thing that Michele and I always stress when I give proposal advice is that your wedding proposal idea should include something relevant to your relationship or your girlfriend. It can’t just be a cookie cutter proposal at a generic restaurant. It should include elements that are personalized to you guys. For today’s blog, I am going to give you some ideas for proposals that you can implement in your hometown if you’re stuck as to what to do.

The Place You Met

This is always going to be a big one. The place you met is great because it symbolizes that your relationship has come full circle and you’re taking the next step where you met. If you met in high school, try taking her back there and have something arranged in the football field. If you met at a local park, surprise her with a picnic setup on the exact spot you met her at.

Your First Date/First Kiss Location

This one is also a classic. This is the place where you two first showed interested in each other and started your journey together. This kind of place only works if you and your partner are still into that activity that you did or you can somehow incorporate it in a touching way. If your first date was a Super Bowl party at a Frat House, that is not a good idea. If your first date including taking her to a specific beach, then that’s more like it.

At Her Work

This one can be a little tricky if she works at a place that has a lot of security. You don’t want to just try to barge in there and be escorted out. One way of proposing at her work is to simply call her and ask her to come outside for a bit. When she does you can have a limo ready and/or an elegant and romantic setup for her asking her to marry you. Something like this would be a great surprise.

At A Romantic Scenic Outlook

Every town has a place that has nice views. Places to try to look for are parks, hills, beaches, or lakes and river fronts. These places are excellent for setting up a picnic or proposal setup to surprise your partner.

Sometimes figuring out a proposal idea in your hometown can be difficult. Even once you do decide on an idea, you may need extra help to make sure it all goes to plan and have props setup beforehand. For these reasons it’s best to hire a The Heart Bandits Wedding Proposal Planners. The Heart Bandits are the best in the world at creating personalized proposal ideas and helping bring them to life. Unique Proposal at the Beach That Will Warm Your Heart

We at The Heart Bandits are SO excited to share this unique proposal at the beach with you!  This marriage proposal is just oozing with thoughtfulness and romance.  Tim is a very romantic guy and he knew that he wanted to blow Serene away with a romantic proposal in North Carolina.  The most important process of our Proposal Planning is when we interview the client and learn details about his girlfriend and their relationship.  What we found out from Tim is that he wanted to surprise Serene, he wanted it to be extremely romantic, he is good at writing poetry, Serene loves pink, and the song they wanted played at their wedding was “Forever” by Chris Brown.  All Tim needed was the perfect way to infuse all of that together and then someone to set it all up for him.

Tim and The Heart Bandits worked together to come up with the most romantic marriage proposal North Carolina has ever seen!  First, Tim and Serene walked hand and hand down the beach together and they stumbled upon a poem written in the sand.  The poem was vague so it wasn’t clear to Serene that it was for her.  As they continued to walk, they encountered a message in a bottle.  Tim and Serene opened the message to find yet another poem.  This poem seemed a little bit personal but still didn’t give away the whole thing.  Next, they found an easel displaying a beautiful poem that Tim had written especially for Serene.  After she read the poem, Tim walked over to a very special location.  Serene was blown away when she saw pink balloons, flowers, pictures of her and Tim over the years and a string duo playing “Forever” by Chris Brown!  Tim proposed and she said yes.  The Heart Bandits are so honored to be a part of this day!

How To Be Romantic – Feed Each Other Desserts & Treats

How to be Romantic - Feed each other desserts

If you remember last week, I mentioned that with romance, it usually just takes the simplest of gestures to make your partner know that you still care.  In this week’s How To Be Romantic blog, you will be amazed as to how simple it is.  Next time you’re eating dinner or hanging out with your partner, feed your partner dessert.  It’s so simple yet so cute and could accompany any romantic date.  Though this could work with other foods, you don’t want to try to go too far by trying to jam a piece of lasagna at your partner’s face…Not a good look.  If you focus on desserts and treats such as the ones below you’ll be on safe ground and your partner will enjoy a nice and tender moment together with you.

Strawberries

Strawberries are a perfect treat to feed your partner. They’re small and easy to handle. They go great as a treat alone or as dessert. Pair this with chocolate and/or champagne and it will make you into a romantic connoisseur.

Cake

Feeding each other cake is somewhat symbolic of your wedding day. Even if you’re not married, if you give your partner a piece of cake it is playful and romantic. Don’t attempt to put frosting on your partner’s nose unless you’re sure you won’t be in the doghouse. 😉

Grapes

Feeding each other grapes takes you back to ancient times where grapes were fed as a form of luxury and relaxation. Take her to a park on a nice weekend with a picnic basket. Have her relax on you while you feed her grapes and tell her you love her. It’s simple but yet enhances the quality time you two are spending together.

Cupcakes

This is the new “it” thing with weddings having them and with cupcake stands popping up. Get an awesome new flavor feed your love a bite in a playful mood. It’s great as a treat or as dessert after dinner.

Romance isn’t hard if you know the tricks. Some people just have trouble with it though but the good thing is that The Heart Bandits are romance experts and can help you bring that spark into your relationship with romance advice and romantic dates and planning. If you would like more romantic date ideas or proposal ideas, then contact us today to get started.

How To Be Romantic – A Walk Down Memory Lane

Being in this Romance and Proposal Planning business for some time now, I’ve discovered one very surprising thing regarding on How to be Romantic. That surprising factor is that to be romantic, you just have to do something really simple. Sure sometimes the extravagant romantic adventures are nice, but to romance your partner, you can do a simple thing that is relevant to your relationship and it will have lasting effects. For today’s How To Be Romantic blog, I will discuss one such way of doing this and that is taking a walk down memory lane with your partner. Here are the two biggest reasons why it’s so great.

Simplicity

Like I just mentioned, the action of romance is very simple. What can be easier than taking a walk with your love? You’re not over-exerting yourself, you don’t have to plan a flash mob to surprise her, you don’t even need to have a plan. All you need to do is walk with your partner.

Relationship Based

When you take this walk, make sure to walk her down somewhere that is relevant to your relationship. It could be the park where you first met, around the beach where you first kissed, or even around the block where you live if you’ve had lots of memories there. The point is that when you’re walking it will stir back memories of amazing times that you two have had together. It’s a perfect time to reminisce and tell her how much you love her.

Detroit Marriage Proposal with Dance Routine

A few months back, we were approached by Karan, who lives in South Carolina while his girlfriend lives near Detroit, Michigan. He had a unique marriage proposal idea that he wanted to implement and he needed help to bring it to life. As proposal planners, we jumped at the chance to help put all the moving pieces of his proposal together.

His plan was this; the next time he was going to visit her in Michigan, he was going to actually arrive a day earlier and enlist the help of some friends. He had been practicing what was about to happen for weeks so it was critical that everyone be on board so that she would be surprised. Karan arrived in Detroit on August 14th though his girlfriend thought he was arriving on August 15th. A friend went with her to “pick up” Karan at the airport but the friend told her that he needed to make a quick pit stop in downtown Detroit. As she arrived at the center of downtown Detroit at gorgeous Campus Martius Park, over the loudspeakers she heard the song “You make me feel” by Cobra Star Ship. All of a sudden, some of her friends appeared and started dancing a choreographed routine under a canopy. In the middle of the song, Karan appeared as well to her amazement. The song changed to “Without You” by Usher and finally to “Hero” by Enrique Iglasias. All the while, the dancers kept in rhythm performing the dance. In the end, the dancers gave way and Karan approached her and asked her to be his wife. She of course said Yes and they both posed for pictures afterwards. We want to wish Congrats to Karan and his new fiancé! Below are pictures of their amazing proposal story.
