How To Propose to a Romantic Partner

When you think about how people propose marriage, the thing that usually comes to mind is an emotional moment that is filled with romance. Even if the couple isn’t normally romantic, the proposal itself will naturally bring out a romantic atmosphere because you are putting yourself out there and asking a very vulnerable question.

But what happens when your partner is already a romantic person and you’ve done lots of romantic things for her in your relationship? Will a simple romantic gesture work or will a more grand marriage proposal idea have to do?

The answer really depends on your partner and your relationship but today we will be offering some suggestions for you in case you’ve done a lot of romantic things in your relationship and you feel that you may need to take it up a notch for your personal wedding proposal.

Create Grandeur with an Impressive Space

Romance in the traditional sense elicits images of soft lighting, flowers, slow music, and desserts. If you’ve done this before and want to turn it up, how about doing these things but improving the setting of it. Try renting out someplace that has an amazing view of a skyline, the sunset, or is magnificent in itself. Contact us to find out where you can actually rent out a castle that you can use for a proposal. You KNOW that will blow her mind if you proposed in a castle.

Many Romantic Gestures Throughout the Day

If you’ve usually had romantic dates or moments with your partner, for your actually proposal you can add lots of those gestures into one day. If you do this, try to start small like buying her a single flower earlier in the day then gradually increasing the romance. Adding smaller gestures tends to create anticipation for the actual event.

Include Hard-to-Find Items

If your partner has always had a soft spot for something for her past or something that she could never get a hold of then it would make an amazing statement if you got that for you proposal. If it’s a certain type of jewelry, book, or memento from a different country, then these things could be implemented when you make the final proposal reveal.

Include Important People

Similar to items that are hard to find, incorporating people that are hard to get a hold of and are important to your partner will really create an impact. For example, if she likes a certain local singer, then try seeing if you can hire that singer for your actual proposal.

If you’re ready to propose marriage and you’re having trouble with ideas because you feel you’ve done it all already, then you should definitely contact The Heart Bandits. We can bring fresh and unique ideas to any relationship. We’re also expert planners that will take away the stress of planning a proposal so you can just enjoy your moment. Proposal Ideas for the Geeky Partner

nerdy-proposal-ideas-the-heart-bandits

Though I fully embrace my role as one of The Heart Bandits these days helping countless guys and girls with proposal ideas, proposal planning, and engagement advice, this was not my original profession. I’m a graduate from MIT and Penn State with an engineering degree so you KNOW that I really love any technology-based proposal ideas.

That is why for today’s blog I thought that I would bring out the engineer in me and suggest some proposal ideas for those of you that have partners that are really into technology and awesome gadgets.

Smart Phone GPS Scavenger Hunt

The traditional way of using notes and clues can get a major upgrade for the techie lover. With the new iPhone 5, there are endless options that you can do to incorporate a scavenger hunt. Some things you may want to incorporate are tracking your partner’s whereabouts at all times and sending clues or having a text-based popup appear on her phone when she solves clues.

Tablet Flash Mob

Michele and I recently got an iPad and I think it’s the greatest thing ever. It gave me the idea that you can easily use this device in a marriage proposal because of the control you have over it. It can easily be placed in front of faces for people helping in a flash mob to help deliver a message.

Coordinated LED Light Show

Similar to the tablet, LED’s have lots of control that you can build in. They can easily change colors and are small enough that they can be piled up to make a message. Ever see a Christmas light show deliver a message?…. Talk to us and we can help you.

Audio Spotlight

Let me drop some knowledge on you without getting into the math. There is an audio technology that has come out in the last decade or so that emits a sound wave similar to that of lasers. The end result is you get a very direction beam of sound that the person it’s pointed to can hear but not person next to him. Using this in a marriage proposal can be very unique because it will allow you to deliver an audio message to your girlfriend without anyone else hearing. Pretty cool huh?

Water Jet Packs

In the picture above, a bride made a grand entrance with a water jet pack to her wedding. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you did the same thing but for a marriage proposal? That would definitely make an entrance that nobody would ever forget!

Ideas like these would lead to amazing proposal stories, but they can be difficult to pull off by yourself. Fortunately, this is part of what makes The Heart Bandits so great. Michele provides the more sweet and romantic side to things and I provide the more adventurous and techie side to things. Together you get a blend of awesomeness that you can’t get anywhere else.

Michael purchased our San Diego Beach Proposal Package.  The proposal package comes with a picnic blanket, 2 pillows, 2 framed photos, rose petals, chilled cider, chocolate covered strawberries, and proposal planning from The Heart Bandits. We worked with Michael to determine the best location for his proposal which in this case was a beach in Coronado.  Also, Michael went to LSU and Stef went to Texas Tech so we decided to make the theme of the picnic purple and red, both of their school colors.   Michael upgraded to a sign that said “Stef, will you marry me?” which we covered in purple satin so he could reveal it at just the right moment.  The picnic was beautiful and she said yes!  Check out the photos by Vaylia Photography.

The Not So Great Trend of Fear in Marriage Proposals

I don’t think you’re like me when it comes to marriage proposals. By that I mean that I look at every marriage proposal in the news and analyze it to see what was good about it, bad about it, how interesting it was, who was involved, was it public, or private, etc. One thing that I’ve been noticing that has been happening recently is there have been several wedding proposals in the news that have involved some kind of fear instilled during the proposal process.

fake-death-marriage-proposal

One such proposal that you may have heard about involved a guy from Russia faking his own death only to spring back to life to propose to his girlfriend. You can read the full story here .

Yet another proposal involved a pilot pretending there was engine trouble while him and his girlfriend were in the plane he was flying. Another article talks about how he had her read the manual that was actually a marriage proposal.

We even had a guy ask us about using a fake police officer to arrest his girlfriend only to later learn that it was part of a marriage proposal. These types of things have the potential to go drastically wrong because your girlfriend could have a panic attack, call the real authorities, or just be left with a bad memory of the whole situation. She may even say ‘No’ to your proposal because of it.

Fear is NOT Good in a Marriage Proposal

Don’t get me wrong, I love marriage proposals that incorporate new and innovative things. But maybe it’s just the old-school part of me but I don’t think instilling fear into your partner before you propose is a good idea.

Stick With Classic Engagement Tips

These classic tips involve romance, sentimental touches, and the elements that make your girlfriend and your relationship tick. It’s the elements that create anticipation at the moment when you’re on bended knee and proposing. These touches will never go out of style.

Though new and innovative proposal ideas are being proliferated on YouTube and other social media lately, it doesn’t mean that that type of idea would be good for your relationship. The Heart Bandits Proposal Planning Package is your best when it comes to receiving help with a proposal idea and planning. Contact us today to get started.

Proposal Ideas for Your Traveling Partner

marriage-proposal-ideas-on-travel

Very often we get guys (and girls) that come to us saying that they want to propose to their partner but they only have a small window of time to do it. Most of the time it’s because their partner is a very busy traveler. When this happens, the guy proposing marriage usually becomes stressed out and has difficulty coming up with ideas that are both relevant to their relationship and would surprise her. If this is the case for you then you’re in luck because today we’re providing proposal ideas for your traveling partner. You can check out some of our previous proposal ideas for traveling partners here.

At The Airport

This one can be tricky but if your partner is coming back home there are ways you can propose at the airport. You just have to make sure that it has substance and you’re not just doing it to “get it over with”. An even more clever approach would be to surprise her at the airport that she’s visiting by arriving there before she does. Even in this case, an expert proposal planner would be your best bet to get help from to make it unique.

Where She is Staying

When she is coming into town or going to a new town, one of the best ways to create a surprise is to completely revamp her room/apartment. We offer such a service with our The Heart Bandits Room Makeover Proposal. With this type of proposal, you can incorporate lots of personal touches and you can easily create a surprise because she will not be expecting you.

At a Public Square or Park

This would be amazing if you want to completely wow her. If she’s going to be at a park or somewhere else out in the open, an amazing way to propose marriage would be to have something setup at that location. It’s best to start this setup small, create some anticipation, and then have the big reveal at the end.

Having a partner that travels often can make coming up with the perfect proposal idea difficult. Likewise, planning this proposal would be almost impossible if you don’t have help. The Heart Bandits are here for exactly that reason. We can help you with marriage proposal ideas if you’re stuck on what to do and we can help with the logistics of making a proposal come to life. Contact us today to get started.

One of The Most Romantic and Elaborate Proposal Ideas

Today, The Heart Bandits Proposal Planners are so excited to share the romantic proposal we created for Darin and Genessa.   Darin is seriously one of the nicest guys we have ever met and when he contacted us he let us know right away that Genessa was the love of his life, and that he would stop at nothing to give her an over the top proposal.  And he did!

Darin and Genessa were visiting Portland and that is where Darin wanted to propose.  Darin is an extremely busy business man which is why he needed to hire The Heart Bandits to plan the details of the proposal.  That doesn’t mean Darin wasn’t involved, not at all!  Darin had his hand in our proposal planning all the way from insisting on birds of paradise flowers, teal vases, and even changing the lyrics of a song to make it more meaningful to Genessa.  And what makes this proposal even more unique is that when we presented some wedding proposal ideas to Darin, he picked 2!  He wanted Genessa to feel as special and amazing as he thought she was so he wanted to give her 2 surprises.  Here is how it went down:

Darin and Genessa went to Multnomah Falls where she thought they were taking a walking tour.  They go up to the bridge and there are a bunch of “tourists” up there.  Darin asks one of the tourists to take their photo.  As he snaps the photo, he begins to sing “Marry Me” by Train.  Genessa soon learned that he was the lead singer of an a capella group and the other members joined in to serenade her.  They all got down on one knee at the end of the song, and Darin got down on one knee next.  Genessa said yes!

But the surprises didn’t stop there.  At 6pm, Darin told Genessa they had a dinner reservation.  Instead of dinner, they were escorted up to the rooftop at Hotel deLuxe.  When Genessa stepped onto the rooftop, she was shocked to see a full live band there just to play for her and Darin.  She walked down an aisle of birds of paradise flowers and candles which led her to a canopy and a table for 2.  Darin and Genessa sat and looked over a photobook of memories and sipped on Dom Perignon.  Then they danced the night away.  See photos below and video here.

How to Propose While Using a Restaurant

romantic-marriage-proposal-in-restaurant

When guys are thinking about proposing marriage one thing we always try to steer them clear of is cliché wedding proposal ideas. These cliché ideas are more prominent in restaurants for some reason. You ALL know what I’m talking about. A few of the most cliché ideas are dropping the ring in a champagne glass, putting the ring in your dessert, and just proposing at the restaurant at the end of dinner. These ideas have no spark or uniqueness to them. To help out all you guys out there that are thinking about how to propose marriage while incorporating a restaurant, then today’s blog is just for you. Here are some excellent ways to incorporate restaurants into your engagement idea.

Private Room

Even if you’re at a nice restaurant, there’s something that it not special about proposing just at your table. If you really want to do something nice at a restaurant, then a very good option is to reserve a private room for your proposal. In this room you will have lots more options that include decorations and other vendors like photographers and musicians. Doing something like this is more elaborate but yet still intimate. The picture in this blog is from such a place (photo courtesy Chloe Moore Photography).

Rooftop or Terrace

Similar to the private room, you can also use the rooftop or terrace of a restaurant to have a better proposal. With these places you get the open feel of the air and have more options that will not bother other guests and have more privacy.

Enlisting Staff and “Fake” Guests

This is a more elaborate scheme and it would really take Wedding Proposal Planners – The Heart Bandits to help you pull it off. Essentially, you propose at the restaurant but the other guest and the staff are all in on the surprise and will all either perform or act in certain ways to go along with the story. Think about it like a play but in a restaurant. When it’s pulled off, it makes for an amazing and exciting engagement story.

Using the Restaurant as an After-Celebration

There is absolutely no rule that says if you’re going to propose at a certain night that you have to do it during or after dinner. A lot of guys want to propose at restaurants because they’re either visiting a new town or the restaurant is some place that their girlfriend has been wanting to go to. Even if this is the case, how about proposing in a unique way to your relationship beforehand and then going to that same restaurant as a celebration. You would then be able to have a glass of champagne to celebrate and that would be one of the most exciting dinner you will ever have.

If you are thinking about proposing in a restaurant, be very careful not to do it in a cliché way. You want to be unique and have your proposal tailored to your relationship. We’re experts at helping guys do exactly that. We help bring out the details and uniqueness of your relationship and apply it perfectly so that you can have the best proposal idea possible. Our clients are always asking us how to hide their bulky engagement ring box on the day they propose.  The answer is, buy a slim engagement ring box!! Ring Stash, www.ringstash.com offers a .5 inch ring box that will help you keep your proposal a secret until you are ready to reveal it.  Contact us today to get started.

Proposal Ideas for the Every Guy

When you decide to propose, you spend hours searching on the Internet for romantic proposal ideas.  In spite of the fact that you find many great options, none of the proposals seem perfect for your girlfriend.  And there is a reason…………..they were not made for your girlfriend, they were made for someone else’s girlfriend.  Don’t worry though; we are here to give you some great proposal ideas.  Below are 4 tips on how to create the most romantic proposal for your girlfriend.

Be Original

Again, don’t just copy a proposal idea that you see on the Internet.  Take time to think about what is different and unique about you as a couple and then brainstorm about the proposal idea from there.  Hire a Proposal Planner if you need a professional help bring out those details and then create a proposal concept.

Have a Budget

So many guys spend all their money on the ring and then have no money left for the proposal. I always find that strange because you can always upgrade a diamond but you can’t change a memory.  Make it special and save up for the proposal too.

Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute

I don’t know why, but it seems like a lot of guys wait until 1 or 2 weeks before they are going to propose to actually start planning the proposal.  The proposal is something that your girlfriend has been waiting for all her life.  It should be well thought out and not rushed.  Plan ahead.

Speak from the Heart

A lot of our clients ask us, “What should I say when I propose?”   We highly discourage anyone from trying to memorize lines at your proposal.  You will be too nervous and it will seem staged.  Just speak from your heart and everything will be perfect.

Creating a perfect proposal is stressful and time consuming. The Heart Bandits are proposal experts that have created proposals for clients all over the US and the world. Romantic Wedding Proposal in Malibu You Will Love

Last month, we had the opportunity to meet Sameer. Sameer was at the point in his relationship where he was ready to pop the question to his girlfriend. He had an idea for a proposal in mind and we were just the people that could help because we are experts at implementing complete surprise romantic proposals.

The idea was this, he told his girlfriend to get dressed up because he was taking her to a nice restaurant for dinner. He told her that he had to make a quick pit stop along the way. The stop was in beautiful Malibu beach at sunset. As they walked onto the beach, a violinist approached them and started playing one of their favorite songs from a Bollywood movie. They kept walking to find a gorgeous picnic setup with her favorite colors of gold, teal, and pink. On the table were framed pictures of them, pillows, cider, and chocolate-covered strawberries. As the sun was setting, Sameer got down on one knee and proposed to her. The nearby bystanders watched the whole thing and couldn’t help but be happy for them. Congrats to the happy couple! Below are some wedding proposal pictures of his in Malibu. The photos are courtesy of Chloe Moore Photography.
