Now we have all seen the typical movie trailer proposals and we have seen outdoor movie themed proposals.  So you may be wondering, what is so special about this movie theater themed proposal?  Well what is so special is that this adorable couple, Jeff and Ali, actually met when they both worked at the same movie theater.  So when Jeff came to The Heart Bandits to have us help him come up with the best marriage proposal ideas, we knew we had to take them back to where it all began.

We rented out this stunning room at Loft on the Lake in Chicago and put a sign with their old theater name out in front.   We created a Concession Stand which is where Ali worked and we added some gorgeous vintage rentals from ShadowBox Dreams to really set the mood.

Ali was completely blown away by what Jeff planned for her, as you can tell by all of these gorgeous photos by Millicent Wong Photography.  After picking up some of her favorite snacks, Jeff escorted Ali to the viewing area so he could show her a video he made just for their proposal.

Ali of course said yes and there were tears all around the room!

Katie Couric and her beau John Molner got engaged over labor day weekend in a sweet and very simple way — at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y. Apparently it was quite a surprise to Couric, but she still happily said yes when he pulled out the huge cusion-cut diamond ring on a simple band. The couple has been dating for nearly two years, and Molner has gotten to know Couric’s two daughters. The engagement was “a great culmination to one of the best periods of my life.”

While there were some speculations about their relationship due to the fact the Edwards is hardly to be seen in One Direction’s new movie This Is Us, she wasn’t shy about sporting her engagement ring at the premier.

We really enjoyed helping out this client with his proposal. We always feel blessed when they share their story with us and we get to help them tie it all together. In Roderick’s case, he had his first date with Hollis at a Wine Cellar in NYC, so we knew we had to incorporate that into the unique proposal ideas we presented him.

This is how their proposal plan went down. Roderick showed up at the restaurant and had Hollis meet him there. To throw off Hollis, Roderick told her that they were meeting with a Venture Capitalist at the restaurant. They received a “phone call” from the VC saying that unfortunately he had to cancel and as a way of apologizing, he would pay for a nice bottle of wine from the restaurant’s wine cellar.

Holly had no idea what was down there. She walked in and discovered an amazing floral arrangement just for her. There were pictures of her and Roderick spread out on a long table. The pictures were all about their ‘1sts’ of things they’ve done. There were cute chalkboard that describing those firsts such as their first date, first vacation, first time meeting family, etc. Since Roderick wants to have a family with her, he even made a first book to his unborn son. The book’s story explained what love truly feels like and what that woman should mean to you. The book had cartoon pictures of Roderick and Hollis in it and the last picture showed him proposing to her at that very spot.

He proposed in real life and of course she said YES! Congrats to Roderick and Hollis!

We are so excited to share with you our very first sand castle marriage proposal idea.  Now I know you have seen a sand castle proposal before you but you haven’t seen one like this!  The proposal we designed included an elaborate sand castle, over 100 sunflowers, a helicopter, and a beautiful message raked in the sand.  Check out the amazing photos by Maya Myers Photography and read about how it all went down below.

Chris contacted us because he wanted an over-the-top marriage proposal to his girlfriend Amy.  He wanted to include a sand castle in the proposal but he wanted more, he wanted it to be special.  Since anticipation was important to Chris, we arranged a private helicopter ride for them.  When they flew over the gorgeous beach, Amy was shocked to see “Amy, I love you” written in the sand and surrounded by her favorite flowers

After the helicopter ride, Chris explained that he wanted to go back to the beach and look at that message a little closer.  Amy and Chris arrived at the beach and she was just in awe of the sand raking.

Chris pointed out this gorgeous cliff nearby and said he wanted to walk over there to take pictures.  Instead, about half way into the walk, he covered Amy’s eyes to take her to the real surprise.  The grand finale of this proposal was an elaborate sand sculpture designed like Las Vegas, where Chris and Amy met.  On the sculpture read, “Amy, Will You Marry Me?”  Chris proposed and Amy said yes.  We are so honored to have been a part of such a beautiful proposal.

Richard contacted The Heart Bandits because he needed to plan a romantic marriage proposal in a hurry!  He had about a week before his proposal date and he had a couple of must haves.  It had to take place at the Thai restaurant where they first had their date, and it had to be private.

We went to work right away to come up with a way to section off part of the restaurant to give them privacy and to still make it look romantic since the restaurant did not have a private room.  With the help of Flourish Designs Unlimited, we created privacy by draping beautiful gold curtains around a section of the room.   The proposal room was decorated with rose petals, gold candles, gorgeous flowers, and photos of Richard and LinLin over the course of their relationship.

While it may seem like a cute and creative idea, there are just so many ways that it can go horribly wrong! It’s Tacky

I know — you think you are being super creative by hiding the ring in her favorite meal. But too many other people have had this idea for it to actually have that allure.
