As we venture into the month of August, summer vacations are still all the rage. And what better way to propose to your loved one than while you’re on a gorgeous summer getaway? Proposing on vacation can be tricky, as they’re more difficult to plan. With this in mind, The Heart Bandits – wedding proposal planners have put together how to pull of a vacation proposal down below.
Set a Great Destination
Location, location, location. If it hasn’t been said enough, location is everything. While you’re planning out your vacation, set a destination you both will love, whether it be in the snow or on the beach. Make sure it will set the scene you want.
Have a Back-Up Plan
Vacation shouldn’t be an uptight experience, which means plans will probably change. Go with the flow and have a back-up plan just in case. It’s better safe than sorry.
Built In Excuses
Use the built in excuses that naturally come with a vacation. She won’t suspect a thing if you are going to a fancy restaurant, planning a full day of exciting activities, or even hiring a photographer to follow you around and capture you living your best life. Use that to your advantage and build your proposal right in to your itinerary.
Keep the Ring Safe
There’s nothing worse than losing the ring, and between all the traveling, it’s a huge possibility. Keep it in a safe (secret!) place where you can easily get to it to check it. Purchase a slim-ring box from www.ringstash.com for extra security.
At the end of the day, pulling off a vacation marriage proposal is possible. You just need the right tools and the right know-how. That’s where we come in. We’ll make sure your summer proposal pans out just how you dreamed it would. Contact us today to start planning the perfect proposal idea.
Do you want to propose in front of one of the natural wonders of the world? One with an unbeatable view of one of the most scenic, awe-inspiring sights anywhere? Then consider proposing at Niagara Falls. It is located on the border between the United States and Canada. Niagara Falls features three stunning waterfalls, including the world-famous Bridal-Veil Falls. There are many locations to choose from, you really can’t go wrong choosing this beautiful location. Check out our Ultimate Guide to Proposing in Niagara Falls.
Canada or NY Side
When you decide to take a trip to Niagara falls, you are first going to want to determine if you will propose on the Canada side or the NY side. If you are going to stay in NY, you won’t need a passport. But if you will be crossing over into the Canada side, The U.S. Department of State recommends a valid passport for all international travel. You don’t want to get there and then find out you can’t get to your proposal destination.
DIY or Hire A Proposal Planner
You are going to want to decide if you want to plan your Niagara Falls marriage proposal on your own or if you want to hire a Proposal Planner to assist. Here are some reasons you might want to do either:
DIY
You may want to plan your own proposal because you want something really simple. I mean let’s be honest, the backdrop of one of the most stunning waterfalls in the world may be all you need for your perfect proposal. Another reason to consider planning your own Niagara Falls proposal ideas is that you may be on a budget.
Hire A Proposal Planner
If you want to plan a romantic setup for your proposal at Niagara Falls, then hiring a Proposal Planner might be a great option. We can help you set up a nice personalized picnic with photos and handwritten love notes right near a waterfall, or even something more elaborate. We would work with you to make sure you have an amazing and romantic proposal story. Yet another reason to consider a professional is simply because you may not know the area or what vendors are the best. We can recommend the perfect, quiet proposal location and all of the right vendors to make sure your proposal is a success.
Niagara Falls Proposal Locations
Niagara Falls is always listed as one of the top proposal destinations and once you go, you will see why. Here are some of the places you should consider proposing at in Niagara Falls.
Maid of the Mist
Travel into the heart of Niagara Falls by boarding the legendary Maid of the Mist. A historical boat that takes you beneath the Falls, the Maid of the Mist is an epic proposal location! No reservations are required for the Maid of the Mist, and tours depart every 15 minutes. You cannot get a more incredible view of the entirety of the Falls anywhere else. Just remember to keep your engagement ring secure by using a flat engagement ring box that won’t reveal your proposal intentions until you are ready. Get one at www.ringstash.com. If a private proposal is more your style, consider Three Sisters Island. This is the perfect proposal spot!
Cave of the Winds
If you want to get up-close and personal, consider taking the Cave of the Winds tour which gets you closer to Bridal-Veil Falls than you ever thought possible – a mere 20 feet away! You start your tour by taking your partner’s hand and leading them onto an elevator which travels 175 feet into Niagara Gorge. Imagine proposing on the Hurricane Deck with the stunning falls right beside you! If this is what you envision, contact the marriage proposal experts at The Heart Bandits now to craft a perfect, custom-proposal package that will include a proposal beside Bridal-Veil Falls.

A memorable, special proposal is a must, and you are probably racking your brain trying to figure out the perfect proposal idea. But should you include family and friends in your proposal? That is a tough question but the wedding proposal plannersat The Heart Bandits have put together some tips to answer that very important question.
What Would Your Partner Prefer?
Before you decide to bring in family, you need to make sure your partner would be okay with it. Some people would love nothing more than to have their whole family there to witness the big moment. However, some people would rather it just be the two of you and in that case, they would prefer an intimate proposal. Know if they would prefer proposal ideas that include family and then plan accordingly. There are no do-overs!
Pick the Right Family Member
If you decide that your partner does want family there to see the proposal, you have to carefully select who you will invite. Think about if there are any conflicts between family members, recent divorces, etc. You want this day to be a happy and joyous occasion sans any drama. Tell as Little as Possible

Some couples prefer to Neflix and chill while cuddling up on the couch together, rather than venturing out around town. And if you’re considering proposing at home as well, here are a few proposal ideas for the homebody couple, created by expert proposal planners The Heart Bandits.
Write It Out at the Bottom of Their Morning Coffee Mug
Before your significant wakes up, replace their usual coffee mug with a marry me coffee mug that says, “Will You Marry Me?” at the bottom. When they wake up, make their coffee using the special mug, and wait until they see your marriage message. Get down on one knee with your ring ready and waiting!
Use Your Pet
If your significant other has a special pet, try to incorporate them in your proposal! Write your message down on a note and attach it to its collar or order a marry me dog sign. Send your pet out to your partner, and when they see the proposal note, get down on one knee. Or order your male pet a tuxedo and get him dressed for the occasion.
Set Up a Gorgeous At-Home Date Night
Hire The Heart Bandits to come to your home when your partner is gone and create a stunning at-home date proposal with candles, petals, flowers, etc. Check out this gorgeous at-home proposal we did for a couple in Houston for some more inspiration!

One thing that we recommend is that when you’re thinking about how to propose marriage, you should always have a ring. There are however a few rare circumstances where proposing without a ring may work though. Cost should not be a reason why you wouldn’t have one. We know that engagement rings are expensive, but if you’re truly committed to your partner, then you can find a way to save money for a ring for your idea for your proposal. Assuming that the price isn’t an issue, here are some reasons to propose without a ring:
When On Vacation Travel
When you are traveling on vacation with your significant other and are going to propose, I know what one of the biggest thing you’re going to be worried about is; how to carry the engagement ring with you? Putting the ring in your checked bag is not a very good idea because you should not risk that investment being lost or damaged. Putting the ring on your person is also not a good idea because going through security checks will have you pull the ring out and your partner may see it. The better approach is having it in your carry-on, but this still carries some risk in case security asks you to open your bag. If you have the ring already and don’t want to risk it, you can propose on vacation without one but it’s definitely a good idea to have a place-holder when you actually propose. A place holder could be a less expensive band that symbolizes your commitment.
When You Will Be Taking Your Partner To Select Their Ring
In some cases, the person proposing doesn’t want to risk selecting a ring that their partner won’t like. If this is your case, one option you may have is investing in the diamond itself and then taking her to select the setting that she loves. Similar to the previous case, you can propose with a place-holder until the real ring is actually ready. If you’re not sure if you’re partner will like the cut of the diamond you selected, you can also use a place-holder for this as well.
Your Partner Doesn’t Like or Wear Rings
First of all, are you sure? Second of all, are you completely sure? If you are absolutely certain that your partner doesn’t wear rings or wouldn’t want an engagement ring then you can get them something else. When you propose you would want to use an item or a gesture that is symbolic of your relationship to pose your proposal question.
Proposing without a ring is not recommended but there are a few rare cases where it would be acceptable. This article has hopefully helped you understand some reasons to propose without a ring. Pride month is upon us and we’re so very happy that marriage equality is recognized. We’ve been apart of some amazing same sex marriage proposals, and our clients often wonder how to figure out the logistics of proposing that challenge the stereotypical norms. Maybe you’re wondering who should propose to whom, who buys the ring, and if you should get down on one knee. The good news is: there are no rules to this thing called love! Below we answer some of your most frequently asked questions when it comes to same sex marriage proposals and we provide you with your very own Guide to Proposing to Your Same Sex Partner.
Who Asks Whom?
This is a popular question, but really the answer is simple: it depends on the couple. Maybe your partner has dropped hints that they want you to pop the question, or maybe your partner is very romantic and likes to be the center of attention. It really depends on your partners personality traits. Again, there are no set rules to who proposes, so it’s a good idea to have a discussion with your partner to make sure you’re on the same page.
What About Rings?
While it’s very typical to get down on one knee and give a ring, there are other options to consider as well. You might consider giving an engraved watch, or another piece of jewelry. There are no set rules or blueprints, and you can even opt to give something more personalized. The most important factor to consider is your partner’s personality and to pick something that symbolizes your love.
How Should I Propose?
When it comes time to finally start planning the proposal, think about your partner and what they would like. Would they prefer a public proposal and to be the center of attention, or maybe they would like something more private and intimate. These are all important factors to consider when you’re picking a venue and a proposal idea.

Chudi and Oge are both from Nigeria, but they met in the states where they fell deeply in love. When Chudi came to The Heart Bandits, he told us he wanted to plan a proposal where Oge would feel like a princess. Our expert marriage proposal planners worked with Chudi to create an entire day long proposal in Philadelphia filled with love and surprises.
The Proposal
On the day of the proposal, Oge woke up to a note. The note explained that she would be taken to several different surprises throughout the day. A short time later, a limo picked the couple up. They headed to their favorite spa where they enjoyed couple’s massages. After, Chudi took Oge to a boutique where she got to try on several dresses and pick out her favorite one!
After the shopping, they were taken back home to get ready. To Oge’s surprise, a makeup artist was waiting for her to give her any look she wanted!
Chudi and Oga then walked into The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts to check out a “show.” Oge was shocked as she walked into a gorgeous room that included beautiful flowers and collages of her personality traits. Her face lit up as she read frames that had all of Chudi and Oge’s inside jokes like “#TeamDubai Wins” and “#ChOge2020.” As a string trio was playing romantic songs, Chudi got down on one knee and proposed! Afterwards, their friends and family were there to surprise them and congratulate them.
