Snowy New York City Proposal

We are so enamored with the proposal we are sharing with you today.  Get the kleenex and a blanket because this proposal will give you the chills…..literally.  Elias contacted The Heart Bandits to help him create the best ways to propose.  Since the couple was visiting from Mexico, he wanted to have the proposal in a truly iconic location so we chose Central Park.  But before the proposal was about to take place, we learned that New York was facing a huge snow storm that day.  Elias was determined to still have his proposal snow or no snow so we made it work.  Our brave vendors weathered the storm and as you can see by the amazing photos, the proposal was perfect.

We had originally booked a horse and carriage ride for Elias and Lola, which would take them to the proposal destination.  But the snow was too bad for the horses to operate so we made a quick change to a pedicab.  The pedicab, equipped with blankets, dropped off Elias and Lola at Belvedere Castle where her surprise proposal was waiting for her.  They walked up to the top of the castle where a guitarist was playing their special songs.  Elias proposed to Lola and she said yes!!

The couple then went into the gazebo area where we had pillows, blankets, chocolates, and best of all….hot cocoa waiting for them.  Lola was so happy and content sipping her cocoa but what she didn’t know was that the best was yet to come.  Her family was actually there too, waiting for our signal to congratulate the newly engaged couple.  She was so surprised and we couldn’t be happier for them!  Watch the video here!

How To Announce Your Marriage Proposal

Once the big day has come and gone, but before the wedding planning starts, there’s one last step in your proposal: announcing the engagement! This is something that many people overlook when planning their proposal, but it isn’t something you can do by half measures; a quick phone call or text is not going to cut it when it comes to announcing this huge event. Here are a few ideas for announcing your engagement in a unique, creative way:

A Ring Photo

Tried and true, the ring photo is one of the simplest and most effective engagement announcements out there. There are myriad ways to compose a ring photo: the ring on her finger, the two of you holding hands with the ring visible, the ring standing alone, or even the word “Love” with the ring as the O. This is a great opportunity to play off of a classic concept with some new design.

Bring in Reinforcements

With a little planning, you can get the rest of the family in on your announcement. If you have children, be sure to include them in the photo, since this decision is just as important for them as it is for you. One idea is to have everybody hold signs that spell out a message, such as “Daddy asked, and Mommy said yes!” It’s a great chance to show your unity as a family while spreading the good news.

A Striking Image

It doesn’t take cunning graphic design or an elaborately staged scene to make a great engagement announcement; sometimes all it takes is one great photo. If you have a photograph that really captures you as a couple, then perhaps it’s the best announcement you can have. A graphic designer can take the photo and add text in a tasteful manner, or you can distribute it along with a written version of your proposal story.

A great engagement announcement starts off with an amazing proposal story and having experienced wedding proposal planners is a great asset. Contact the Heart Bandits; they’ll help you sort through your proposal ideas and help you plan the perfect proposal.

Proposal Ideas for the Outdoor Lover

Do you and your sweetheart love the outdoors? Whether you’re seasoned athletes or just weekend trippers, the mountains can offer a wealth of opportunities for stunning marriage proposals that will blow her away.

A Gentle Hike

For a sweet and laid back proposal, a hike on the verdant lower slopes of a mountain will offer breathtaking scenery and fresh air, without being so taxing that it detracts from the day. For best effect, plan a path that will take you to a beautiful overlook, and go down on one knee in front of a backdrop of gorgeous scenery.

A Ferocious Climb

If you and your lady have dabbled in rock climbing, perhaps now is the time to step it up a notch. With the help of an experienced guide, pick a rock face that’s suitable to your level. Enlist the help of friends to arrange a surprise proposal at the top- perhaps with a perfectly laid picnic, or just a cleverly placed ring.

A Winter Wonderland

If you don’t want to wait for summer to roll around, or if you and your sweetheart are snow-lovers, then a mountain can offer a pristine and perfect venue for a winter proposal. A weekend trip may be perfect; after a day spent skiing or snowboarding, retreat to a private room in a cozy lodge. The shared day and the relaxed setting make this an intimate and low-key proposal.

Whether you’re an experienced mountaineer or a novice hiker, an alpine proposal might be perfect. To make sure, contact the Heart Bandits; they have years of Proposal Planning experience, and will be able to guide you to the perfect location for your proposal, as well as make sure that every detail is right for you.  Contact us today.

The “Sweetest” Houston Proposal

This proposal is definitely going to satisfy your sweet tooth!  Santiago came to The Heart Bandits for some proposal help.  He lives in Mexico and wanted to plan a really special proposal in Houston.  He thought that it would be beneficial to have someone in the U.S. help him so he hired us.  He found the love of his life in Cristina and he wanted to make sure she got the proposal of her dreams.  We got started interviewing Santiago and we learned a few things about Cristina: she loves cooking, loves chocolate, and loves the color orange.   We immediately came up with the perfect proposal idea.

Here is how it went down!  Santiago told Cristina that his aunt’s friend owns a cake shop and she was going to hook them up with a private baking lesson.  Cristina was super excited when she arrived and found out they would be baking all things chocolate.  After the lesson, the instructor told the couple that they would need to be blindfolded to taste the desserts so that they could truly engage their senses.  Of course, Cristina got blindfolded first.  The instructor then lead the couple into the tasting room and when Cristina removed her blindfold, she was in for the shock of her life.

The entire tasting room had been completely transformed with hundreds of candles and orange flowers. A violinist performed their special song and Santiago proposed. Cristina was completely blown away and Santiago pulled off the perfect proposal he was after.  The gorgeous and glowing couple celebrated with champagne and “She Said Yes” cupcakes.  Congratulations Santiago and Cristina.  The Heart Bandits wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Musical Proposals

Some people want a private, quiet proposal- but some people want an all-out public spectacle with songs, dancing, and good friends. We’ve gathered some of the most heartfelt and ingenious musical proposals to inspire you to come up with your own proposal idea.

One Thing

This is a sweet and funny proposal with a creative twist; the proposee is seated in the back of a moving car, which puts her in the perfect spot to enjoy a perfectly lip-synced dance routine featuring her closest friends and family.

The Fantaticks

This proposal is a touching gift, from the whole cast of a production of The Fantasticks to one special girl. Her boyfriend (now husband) arranged for the whole thing to take place after the bows, and provided all the choreography and props. This proposal is more understated than many of the musical proposals out there, but romantic and well-balanced.

Cherry Blossom Proposal

This proposal absolutely stands out for one reason: all of the music was written for the occasion by the young woman who proposed, all tailored to her beloved girlfriend. The personalization of the music is touching: “I know you’re young and I’m in school, but all that I want is you; you make me happy, and I love you.”

These three proposals are linked by more than music; each one is deeply personal to the couple, is arranged with care and attention, and involves friends and family. The music is a central part, yes, but it’s the love and effort involved that makes each one shine.  If you want your proposal to be just as magnificent, you need expert advice from a Proposal Planner. Contact the Heart Bandits; they can help you plan a proposal that will be pitch-perfect for you and your girlfriend.

Alternative Engagement Ring Ideas

new-york-luxury-proposal

A diamond is a girl’s best friend, right? Well, not always. With the high cost of diamonds and the  conflict that surrounds these precious stones, some people are turning away from the traditional diamond engagement rings. If your girlfriend is the type of girl that would be ok with not receiving a diamond as her engagement ring, you may be stumped for what to get.  We’ve collected a few of the best ideas here:

Wooden Rings

There are numerous artisans throughout the world that specialize in custom wooden engagement and wedding rings. With the variety of colors and textures found in nature, there are endless possibilities for personalization and perfection. These rings represent the most eco-friendly engagement rings, since they are made of a renewable resource.

Silver Coin Rings

Most people don’t know it, but the United States quarter was made of silver until 1964. These precious coins are still out there, floating around in the nation’s wallets, and any eagle-eyed consumer can snag one or two if he checks each quarter that passes through his hands. Popularized in recent years is the practice of turning these silver coins into handmade rings. It’s a contemplative process in which one hand-beats the silver into a smooth ring with a small hammer or even a spoon. Though the process is time consuming and the materials are common, the rings themselves are simple and gorgeous- and who wouldn’t be impressed by such a heartfelt and personal ring?

Moissanite Rings

Moissanite, also known as silicon carbide, is a material that has been manufactured in labs since the 1800s. Although it was originally valued for its industrial uses, it has recently been discovered that moissanite is easily faceted into gorgeous, diamond-like gems- and is, in fact, even sparklier than diamond. No one but a jeweler will know that it isn’t a diamond, and there are some heart-stopping settings with large stones available for as little as $2,000. If you and your sweetheart don’t want to support the diamond industry, or would like to spend a tenth as much as a diamond ring would cost while still getting a stunning ring, moissanite is the perfect solution.  WARNING: Do NOT try to pass it off as a diamond, you will get in big trouble.

If you’re serious about the search for an alternative engagement ring, an experienced Proposal Planner will be an invaluable asset. They will know the best jewelers and brokers to consult, and will be able to provide solid information about cost and quality. If you’d like to find the best engagement ring for you, contact the Heart Bandits. They’ll make sure that when the big day comes, the ring will be as beautiful as she is.  After you find the ring, learn how to propose here.

Travel Inspired Proposal in New York City

Happy Monday everyone!  If you are lucky, you find the person you want to spend your life with and one day, you propose.  If you are even luckier, you have the opportunity to travel with that person all around the world.  That is the case with  Daniel.  He hired us because he lives in the UK and he felt he could really benefit from having a New York Proposal Planner on the ground to help plan the details of his marriage proposal.  But first, he needed a great proposal idea.   Since travel was such a big part of their relationship, and because he wanted a view of the New York City skyline, we came up with the perfect proposal concept.

0016DanielAnna_Proposal

After we found the venue with the view, we ordered a huge map and we put pins in all of the cities and countries the couple had visited together.  Daniel came up with the cute idea to add paper planes made of maps.  We framed photos of them throughout their relationship and decorated the space with rose petals and candles.  When Anna walked in, she was completely blown away.

Daniel walked her over to the window where there was a big covered banner.  He had her unveil it and it said “To a lifetime of adventures and explorations together.”  She turned around and he proposed!  They celebrated the occasion with champagne and engagement ring box petit fours by the window with an incredible view.  Congratulations Daniel and Anna, and thank you for allowing The Heart Bandits to be a part of your special day.

Worst Valentine’s Day Proposal Ideas Ever

If you are planning on proposing on Valentine’s Day, please proceed with caution.  While there are many great proposal ideas for Valentine’s Day, there are just as many, if not more, terrible ideas.  We have compiled some of the worst Valentine’s Day proposal ideas.  Please avoid these at all cost.

The Candy Box

Unfortunately, I have seen this proposal idea listed on way too many websites.  Do NOT buy your girlfriend a box of chocolates and then secretly replace one of the chocolates with an engagement ring.  It is cheesy, unoriginal, cheesy, and did I say cheesy?

Dessert Tray

Honestly, I don’t even know which is worse; the candy box idea or this one.  Please don’t have a waiter bring your engagement ring out on a dessert tray.  In fact, a dessert and and engagement ring do not go hand in hand.  Be more creative fellas!

valentines-day-proposal

Using Candy Hearts

You know those cute candy hearts?  The ones that say things like “Be Mine” and “I’m Yours”?  Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could get one to say “Marry Me?”  Ummm, no!  Not only is that lame but what if she ate it and didn’t even see it?  GASP!

Jumbotron

Whoa.  This is double bad.  A sports theme proposal on Valentine’s Day?  No!  A Jumbotron?  Never!  Do I really need to say anything more?

Helium Balloon

Helium heart balloons are great and appropriate for Valentine’s Day.  But putting an engagement ring in a helium balloon is an epicly bad idea.

If you are looking for the best Valentine’s Day proposal, contact The Heart Bandits today.  We will make sure your idea is classy and not a cliche.  Being the #1 Proposal Planner in the world, we know just the right questions to ask you to make sure your proposal is perfect for your partner.

Chicago Bulls Marriage Proposal

A romantic surprise is, by definition, unexpected, no matter where or when it happens. A romantic surprise at work, however, is really rare- especially when you work on a basketball court, in front of thousands of screaming fans. Ariana Rosado, an up-and-coming member of the Chicago Luvabulls cheerleading team, got just such a surprise when her boyfriend, Shane Zackery, organized a startling interruption to business as usual.

Ariana was dancing her heart out during the third-quarter performance at a Bulls game this December, when her teammates suddenly deviated from the plan, launching into a dance routine that she had never seen before. She was speechless as the Bulls mascot came out onto the court and seated her in a rolling chair while her friends danced around her. They were joined by two more mascots in comical inflatable bull costumes- out of one of which stepped her boyfriend, Shane. He went down on one knee in front of the cheering fans, and she said a tearful “Yes!” The couple embraced and left the court together as play resumed.

This is a beautiful story, and obviously worked well for this couple, but this type of proposal has some pros and cons that should be carefully considered before being imitated.

On the pro side, this was obviously tailored to Ariana. It took place at her work, which she clearly loves, and involved some of her closest friends- her teammates. The proposal itself was beautifully planned, with a choreographed dance, the cooperation of the DJ, team and the mascots, and even people running past with banners. Shane even considered how she would feel and act during the proposal, and provided a rolling chair to give her somewhere to sit, so she wouldn’t be standing awkwardly at half court, and also to allow her to be easily positioned by someone who knew the plan.

On the con side, this was a very, very public proposal. As we’ve discussed in previous blog posts, public proposals are not for everyone, and even a true extrovert might be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of onlookers in a basketball stadium. Anyone less at ease in the public eye might have felt very self conscious, or might have resented the intrusion of all of the well-wishers on her special moment. The couple were mobbed by supportive friends and fans as they left the court, and someone who was less of a performer might not enjoy that kind of attention. Additionally, a workplace proposal- even if the workplace is on a basketball court- can be awkward if the presence of coworkers isn’t really desired. Attention should be paid to the relationships between your girlfriend and her coworkers, if you want to plan a workplace proposal- the presence of the local Debbie Downer or a petty rival might detract from an otherwise beautiful proposal.

It’s clear that, for Shane and Ariana, the ultra-public, showy proposal was the perfect way to begin their engagement. Their beautiful proposal is a prime example of what a wedding proposal can be, with some forethought and care.  If you want your perfectly crafted proposal, contact The Heart Bandits today.

America’s First Double Marriage Proposal

This is one of the most exciting marriage proposals we have ever shared!  We were contacted by a pair of best friends, Kyle and Max, who wanted to propose to their girlfriend’s at the same time.  A double proposal certainly posed some unique challenges that a normal proposal does not have.  For one, while Kyle and Max wanted to propose at the same time, they also wanted each of their proposals to be unique and represent their individual relationships.  But no challenge is too big for The Heart Bandits!

We worked with Kyle and Max to create a double proposal that started off the same and ended up going in very “different directions”.  Here is how it went down: Kyle and Tanya & Max and Mary both started off their day taking a horse and carriage ride through Central Park.  They were dropped off at Bethesda Fountain and they made their way to Cherry Hill.  On the way, each girl was handed a bouquet of roses from a stranger.  When they arrived at Cherry Hill, a Flash Mob occurred.  The ladies didn’t get what was going on until the group pulled them into the center!  After the Flash Mob, the couples continued to walk through the park and strangers again presented roses to both of the ladies.  And then, they saw it…..two signs pointing in two different directions.  One sign was an arrow that said “Wildwood, NJ” and one said “Ocean City, MD” and each signified where each couple met.

The men then led their ladies to their own private proposal location.  Kyle and Tanya went to their gazebo which was decorated with red roses, Tanya’s favorite.  Max and Mary went to their gazebo which was decorated with white chamomile flowers, Mary’s favorite.  They both proposed, and both ladies said yes.  We were so honored to be a part of their special day.

If you are looking for the perfect proposal idea or you just need help executing a proposal you have in mind, contact The Heart Bandits today.
