fall-proposal-ideas

Wedding season usually starts in June, but there’s no such thing as proposal season- the whole year is full of opportunity! Each season has its upsides and downsides, however, and fall can be particularly challenging.  Here are a few tips for how to propose in the autumn:

Beware the Weather

Even if your area has wonderful weather in the fall, anything that depends on outdoor activity can be a risk. Proposing indoors is always an option, but it’s a shame to waste a beautiful season. If you are planning on an outdoor proposal idea, or even one that requires a long walk to a building, have a backup plan.  Either be ready to reschedule at a moment’s notice, or relocate indoors if the weather is unfriendly. On the other hand, you could always take advantage of the weather and propose in the rain, perhaps with a fall-friendly theme of rain boots and umbrellas.

A Splash of Color

The changing leaves are certainly the most beautiful part of the fall, and it would be a shame to conduct any fall proposal without including some of the autumnal colors. When considering your proposal, try to find out where the best local venues for viewing the leaves are. Some parks or country lanes can have amazing displays, but you’ll have to ask the locals about them if you’re not intimately familiar with the area.

Cozy and Comfortable

The changing seasons usher in another of the joys of fall- cuddling up indoors with a hot drink, a warm blanket and a fire. If you don’t want to risk the weather, or if you want a quiet and cozy proposal, this is the perfect opportunity to set up something intimate indoors.

Off-Season Awesome

If you want your proposal to take place at a popular destination, the off-season has some serious upsides. Prices will be lower, and the destination will also be less crowded. Airfare will also cost less during times when people aren’t flying, so unless you want to schedule your proposal for Thanksgiving, you will likely save some money.
